Hello,
With steaming, the dvd tells that it is suitable for relaxing muscles and draining fluid from an area. Q1: I have a friend who is currently quite ill, with lots of fluid accumulating in legs and belly too. If I would do steaming -should I encapsulate that area from both sides or place both hands at one side to draw the fluid in that direction. -But it seems to have no place to go as there is fluid everywhere: should i use this technique at all? (he is quite weak now so i hesitate to exeriment) Q2: for me personal: the s-curve in my spine is quite compromised but reacts very well to steaming. Is there a risk that continued steaming on the spine and disks drains the fluid from the discs? Or does steaming only revert the tissue to its natural denseness and length. Thanks! Arjan |

No, steam release drains tension, not fluids. For fluids "poking with a stick" is what you need. Womb the area, see what catches your attention (forget about the idea of actual structure or fluids), and poke it with your intent until it runs away and follow it until it stops; poke again until it wants to come back.
For your spine, again, it responds to steaming because it releases tension in the muscles which are holding it in the accustomed curve. There is no risk, but you might get further if you add "poking with a stick" to encourage any vertebrae which might be out of alignment to realign. (Go down the spine one bone at a time.) My question: How do you "poke with a stick" purely kinesthetically if you can't "see" at all? When I was in the Workshop, and a teacher was right next to me, I could see the correlation between the teacher saying the "object" was bouncing toward me and feeling a bounce; but I just don't get "poking with a stick" on the basis of only feeling. I think this is one of the things that makes the Core work seem "abstract" to me. a bounce; but I just don't get "poking with a stick" on the basis of only feeling. Hi Jocelyn,
The way I think about "poking with a stick" without seeing, is to think about motion. One way is to imagine/feel I am pushing on the "interesting thing", or any area of the womb that attracts my attention. I imagine pushing it in all directions until it feels like it moves away, then keep following the sense of movement, pushing again if it stops, and so on. Just like you would do with a stick, visually. If I can't relate to it this way, I just look for a sense of motion, and encourage it in any way it seems to be going, until it stops. It may be a sense of motion of changing position, or it may be simply motion within a transformation. However I perceive it, I encourage it to continue with my attention and intention, until there is no more motion. It is a bit more abstract. It invites playing with how you're experiencing the wombed area until something happens that you can go with. Does this help? Hi all,
Joycelin, good way for me is to actually do physical movements (same as I would do in billiard, holding a billiard stick and poking the ball), instead of just imagining them. I find that moving my body physically enhance my ability to percieve energy more, through seeing, feeling and touching. With Love, Jelena |

Nice insight, Jelena - Energy tends to move me anyway when I work - so this adds to the idea of just exaggerating what is already happening. Very encouraging - this is getting clearer and clearer to me - Thank you!
