Two years ago i purchased the CT DVD's to learn. I put them aside after a few months as i did not seem to be making any progress. Perhaps partly due to not knowing if what i was feeling was from being in the Core point or not.

I recently pulled out the DVD's and ended up watching DVD number 1. I have done everything except for the Diaphragm breathing. At this stage seems like it might be too much to focus on both Core breathing and each position. I have done some practice, but i need some guidance on what i may use to confirm that i am in the Core point.

Some things i have observed when i think i have been breathing from the the Core point.
- This one has only happened the other day. I "heard" the Core energy, as i had heard it when i have had a friend do long distance Core on me in the past. On each out breath, i heard the energy. I was beginning to wonder if it was an idea, or if i was actually perceiving myself in the Core point. In writing about this at this moment, i think it was an indication, but would like to get thoughts on it. Any ideas on how to confirm it, if that happens again.
- The most common sign has been the opening of feeling in my back. Someone else recently told me that they recognized being in the Core point as an opening to feeling in the whole body. Does that mean when i feel an opening to my back, that i am not in the Core point? Could sensations occur from breathing out of other places in the head besides the Core point?

I have other questions which i hope may get a response. I welcome any tips at all that may help with at least learning the Core breathing so as i can continue with the rest of the exercises.
- My recent return to practicing Core seems initially better than two years ago, but then the day after its as if there are no indications at all. That "day after", happened several times when i was practicing two years ago. I have experienced that and i have so far not understood why. Could it just be not getting quiet enough perhaps. I recognize that learning can be more of a hit and miss at the start of learning the Core breathing, but i am wondering how much success do i need in the hit and miss department before moving onto the rest of the exercises in the DVD ? That was a big issue with me two years ago, as it did not make sense to continue learning the rest of the Core work when it is based on the Core breathing.
- Can the indicator of being in the Core point be a different experience for one person, when compared to another? Alain says in the video about opening, flows and all the rest, but its not clear to me in what i may use to determine being there. Can someone please help in this regard.
- Would i expect to experience the same indicator each time i am correctly breathing from the Core point, or can that differ?

If you can think of any other suggestions in relation to learning, it is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Paul

Paul, I remember that you had doubts and concerns regarding the core point/breath two years ago. We can discuss some of this privately if you like.

Would it be possible for you to arrange a brief phone consult with Alain? I believe that may be the only way to alleviate your doubts, even though you may get some wonderful replies to your post.

in Health and Wholeness,
Sherrie

It was rather difficult to reply to these responses at the time, due to having to reveal my current situation and bring up particular issues around it. The replies are very good, and the effort given is appreciated. I do still need answers to the questions.

Alain, or Jody, can you please comment on the questions i put forth.

Thank you.

Well, yes it is often individual. That is, each person's first sense that they have the focus correct is unique to that individual, but the experience has similarities that are universal.

The sense of relaxation throughout the body that, depending on your personal amount of tension, might be more obvious in your back, at least initially. This is one of the key indicators that you are getting it right. That said, many feel it in the head/face area first. Could you hear it? Yes, but it is not one of the most common experiences and it implies you are trying to do the breath rather than be the breath with the desired focus. Or you may be using the breath to "push" your way in, rather letting the breath be opening the space.

As your body relaxes more and more the sense of relaxation should be more and more throughout the body. That is not to say you have to have it throughout the body to be effective doing the healing work. You can certainly have tension in your system and be effective, it is that the more relaxation you have the more subtlety you can sense and because of that, have a deeper experience with the whole thing. This also when then demonstrate a deeper quiet for a client to entrain too.

We all carry tension, sometimes more, sometimes less. That said, as you get more relaxed within the Core focus most people notice more fluidity or relaxation through their whole body. Unfortunately in a DVD or a book we can't point out the moment that you have the focus correctly and then foster it over and over, we can only give you suggestions that have worked for others, hence the usefulness of a live class.

Each time you do the breath, it is meant to be a unique experience as in each moment we are changing to some degree. This means that the experience can differ from practice time to practice time. But, there is a common thread of the sense of relaxation, expansion and opening. Where you feel this may be different with each practice session but fairly quickly it becomes consistent. It is still important to stay in the now, otherwise you will have a tendency to do rather than be. I think that is the most common error that people make as they practice the Core breath.

I would watch more of the DVD because, as it continues, we give many more suggestions to people as they are doing the work. You will find that we are constantly telling people to be who they are, rather than reaching outward.

The Core book has additional suggestions that you may find useful as well.

The Core book has everything that is needed. I'm on my third read and am implementing 'new' practices, and the results are phenomenal. Always realize that you are a different person at each moment. Hope we all get to that moment. This moment.
