This has happened to me twice. I have tried to use yin breath and CT techniques at the end of a very stressful week and have not been able to get anything moving. Basic and supercharging techniques work just fine. Do you think this is because I am depleted? I know that CT is not particularly effective when the client is depleted and I'm wondering if the same holds true for the practitioner.

I think it's more likely that you were too tired to focus correctly and that's why you didn't have success. Also, whether the patient is depleted does not determine whether the CT will be effective. Sometimes you may get a sense of emptiness in an area and feel that regular QT will work better. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the person is depleted. And things can still "unwind". I feel that statement is too general.

Hi Jody, This is exactly what I feel and I'm wondering if it's what I need or what the client needs. Being that we're going for entrainment, I'm guessing that it's what I need so that the client can entrain. To differentiate between whether the emptiness relates to you or the client, take your attention away from the client and see if you still have the feeling. Then put your attention back on the client and see if it comes back. Do this a couple of times. If it goes away and comes back, then it's the client. If it stays, then it's you. Remember you can "play" with the techniques and see what works. Switch back and forth between techniques and see what feels like it's doing more. Get feedback from your client if you can. There are no set rules to what will work, just guidelines. Also remember the client is not entraining to what you are, but to the state you are creating with the work. So you could be depleted and still use the Core breath and opening to show the client how to unwind.
