I am working my way very slowly through the Core DVD's. It is fascinating, and a real treat, and I am very grateful to have the opportunity to learn this at home (as there are no classes anywhere near me).

I am only halfway DVD 5, so if the answer to my question is still coming, I apologise.

My problem came after doing the 'pouring forward' exercise. I have done it twice now, and both times with the same result - my back feels better, but my neck is sore, and I have a headache for several days. I think it is because I am over-stretching my neck.

So what could I be doing wrong? Is there anything I should specifically watch for in that respect?

I have tried to 'fix' it by steam releasing and wombing, but I didn't have much success with that. I haven't quite figured out those techniques either Smiler

I would really appreciate some help with this - I would like to be able to do this exercise without worrying about straining my neck!

Thank you

Hi Ceram,

It sounds like you are being too aggressive in your pouring. The key is to ride the flow and not to achieve a certain distance in the "pour". In other words, lets say that you can feel the flow for about a third of the way forward through your neck. If you can't feel the pour past that it is time to come up. It is not about the distance it is about finding the flow and moving only when you can sense that. Anything else is having an ambition to achieve a certain distance rather than just paying attention to the flow.

Try it that way and be very gentle with yourself. Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for your quick reply Alain.

I thought I could feel the flow - at least, I felt what I thought was the flow. I was very aware of that as I was pouring, and I didn't go very far. Maybe another key was that I was really hot and uncomfortable, so I didn't want to go for too long.

It makes me wonder as to how the flow really feels. It was a tingly feeling right trough my body - and that is where I felt it, in my body, not in the Core Point. At this stage all I feel in the Core Point is pressure.

Would it be better for me to start at the first DVD again, or do you have any other suggestions as to what may be happening?

Thank you!

While the "energy you pour" does feel tingly to some and warm to others, without any sense of the Core point it is difficult to say what is going on for you.

I'd suggest playing with and easing into the Core point again until you feel a relaxation or opening sensation through the whole body. Most likely you are over concentrating on the Core point, just trying to hard really. Relax gently ease yourself into the Core spot and see what you can sense and then move forward again.

All the best to you,

Thank you Alain, I will try that. It could well be that I try too hard, feeling energy is not something that comes naturally to me. I will just take my time, and play around with the exercises a bit more.

Thank you again for your help and encouragement! I really appreciate that you take the time to respond to my questions!
