This 10 volume work, dated circa 190 AD, attributed to Christian church father Hipppolytus, rediscovered at a monastery on Mt. Athos in 1842, is unique in that the condemned writings of heretics are quoted extensively by the author as he makes his case against them. Chapter 4, part of a critique against a Christian sect known as the Naassenes, contains the following quotation from their teachings "That which is,he says, nothing, and which consists of nothing, inasmuch as it is indivisible--{I mean}a point--will become through its own reflective power a certain incomprehensible magnitude. This, he says, is the kingdom of heaven, the grain of mustard seed, the point which is indivisible in the body; and, he says, no one knows this (point)save the spiritual only."

Uhm. Not that it isn't an interesting post, but should this really be in Core Transformation?

Aryeh Kaplan, a writer on the Kabbalah, said that miracles of transformation happen by going through nothingness. Something is moved from something-ness, to nothingness, and back to something-different-ness.
Lovely quote. Thanks! |
