I've been using CT to release and unwind the spinal dura which covers the brain and spinal cord. Many chiropractors touch a certain area near C1 and C2 to release the entire spinal dura so I thought why not try this using CT? I worked over the phone using this technique with my brother and simply wombed his spinal dura. He said his neck relaxed and felt like he was falling forward into sleep. This is what many patients report who recieve Network chiropractic treatments (the one finger on the neck technique). If you know what the spinal dura looks like you may want to try this with CT as you can sometimes get a global release causing the entire body to relax/unwind!

Hi Steve555,
Could you explain in detail how exactly you perform the technique using CT, like the one finger on the neck technique? I like to try doing on myself. I have read up on Supercharging but not CT. Maybe you could explain to me about CT or refer me to some useful web links so I can read about it.

Learning CT takes some time Talha. I can only recommend the CT DVDs to learn at this point unless someone teaches it near you. There will be a CT book in the future from what I understand.

Hi Steve,

This sounds very interesting and I might look into this some more. I am working in this area all the time with craniosacral therapy of course. I would perform a membrane release at the head and then do a whole dural tube release by having one hand under the sacrum and the other under the occiput.

Thanks for that.

(I have the Core DVD's and did start watching them sometime ago. Got through the first three and then had to quit due to pressure of work and have never gotten time to go back to them. Must try harder!!)

You might also try just intending the release by imagining one hand under the sacrum and the other under the occiput. It works for me. This would be along the lines of CT if you include the Core breathing though it is not mentioned or taught in the DVDs. Hands free polarity therapy? Thanks for your response Cranial Therapist.

Hi Steve,

Yes, I should say. I do a lot of hands off work with craniosacral therapy as well as Reiki, so yes, intentions counts for most of your treatment - Upledger says this too.

Hi Steve and Cranial Therapist

Not being medically trained I am interested to know exactly what spinal dura is/ Is there a link i can read about it? I assume you are talking about the client lying down when putting hand under occiput and Sacrum. Do you direct the energy up and down the spinal chord?

Thanks
Wendy

Hi Wendy,

Basically, the spinal dura is in three layers and protects the spinal cord. The Pia Mater is the innermost lining and is soft. The middle layer is the Archnoid Mater and the toughest outermost layer is called the Dura Mater - 'tough mother' from the German.

It has attachments from about C3 and stops at about the level of L2 and then dangles freely as the Corda Equina. Goes down past sacrum to Filum Terminale below Coccyx.

It runs up and through the Foramen Magnum also, where it is referred to as the Cranial Dura - Falx Cerebri, Tentorium Cerebelli and Falx Cerebelli.

I always do this when someone is lying on the couch, but yes, you can just direct energy up and down the spine. I sometimes just go to the sacrum and use intention, but if I really want to perform a dural tube release, then I go to the sacrum and occiput together - better.

Hope this helps?

You could read up about it in any good A and P book such as Marieb or if you want a cranial perspective on it read Craniosacral Therapy by Upledger. It is very good, but a little technical perhaps.
