I've found the colour meditation very beneficial, and would like to introduce it to my local meditation group.

My question is whether it's appropriate to introduce it to a group of people who have not necessarily learned QT? ie can it stand alone?

Yes, the color meditation can stand alone. It is more the quality/accuracy of the colors that is the key to its overall effectiveness than anything else.

Hi May,
I have nopart in the administration of this site, so can't just say 'DO IT' BUT I am an instructor and mix modalities as needed.

Just in case you may have missed my meaning,
IT CAN'T HURT TO TRY.

I thnk Richard or Jennifer would agree, but as I said, I am nobody.

On the other hand, I use everything but the kitchen sink on some of my very large clients.

Go for it.

healinghugs,
zeneagle

I've been using colour meditation quite a lot with clients. They find it beneficial when I offer the colours, and some want to continue with them. So I've shown some how to do the meditation on their own, and given them a handout - which of course includes due acknowledgement to QT.

The sticky bit is giving them the sheet of colours. I have two printed versions which came direct from QT - and there's variation between them (one from the SC DVD, one from a live SC workshop). An inkjet photocopier does an OK job of copying, but certainly introduces further variation.

Plus, I work with most of my clients at a distance, so can't readily show them the colour sheet. Though most have computers, I doubt it would be possible to send them colours that way because of the variation in monitors.

What I've done in these situations is to visualise the colours myself, while describing them as 'emerald green', 'mustard yellow' etc, using the words Alain uses.

But, remembering Alain said it's the 'quality /accuracy' of the colours that's important, I'm wondering whether this is good enough?

Or is there, perhaps, some other way to convey the colours that I've not thoought of?

I really feel the meditation has great value, and would like to be able to pass it on in the best way possible.

Any ideas?

I also have a question in regards to copyrighted materials. The color chart is copyrighted by Quantum Touch. Would someone from QT please respond to this question: Is it legal and acceptable to reporduce and distribute copyrighted material, specifically the 12 color chart and the instructions for the meditation?

Thanks very much.

The differences in the handout from the live class and the handout with the video stems from extreme difficulty getting different print shops to produce the colors accurately.

The colors in the video workshop are from a pantone color wheel. Those numbers were given to the print company and it was the closest we could come.

As you noted, when you try and copy a chart the colors degrade. The other thing you'll notice is that every different copier you use will produce a different color group it is all rather frustrating.

The warmth or consistency within the colors are close enough in both cases. The metallic colors need to be the actual metals as copiers just won't give you true colors regardless of what you do.

So I feel confident that the "color chart" stated with the words "emerald green" etc. should be fine.

As far as copyright laws etc. I will forward this question to the QT office.

Hello May,

I have put together a power point presentation for my personal use to practice the meditation.
I love the fact that I can just relax in front of the screen and open my eyes when I need a refresher of the color. It's nice and big as a slide show. At this point I am not definite that my colors are fully accurate, but it will have to do until I can have confirmation.

Provided you are not infringing on any copyright laws, and you have the accurate shades and quality of colors, this may be something worth considering.

If you have a laptop you could bring it to your meditation group.

Hi All,

This is Jennifer from the Head office responding to the copywrited material issue!

Overall, we would prefer that people do not distribute copywrited material including our course materials. The extreme example being if someone were going to take the book to Staple's and Copy it and then hand it out for free! I don't think a copy store will let you do this anymore!

However, if you have a specific need to hand out some of our materials that are copywrited, please email me directly (jennifer@quantumtouch.com ) so that we can talk about it. I am very happy to consider your individual needs.

Thanks for your support of QT!

Ali, thanks for prompting the issue of copyright. With that in mind, I took care to write my handout in my own words and acknowledge the source of the meditation to QT. I hadn't considered the copyright issue for the chart though.

I'll follow these points up with Jennifer at Head Office. I want to be fully aligned with QT on both their copyright policy, and whether & how they want practitioners to 'spread' the colour meditation out into the world.

Alain thanks for confirming that about the colour chart and use of appropriate words.

Isabelle what a great idea to put the colours into PowerPoint, particularly to use with a group. I was hoping someone would come up with a creative idea, and you've done just that!

As I offer healing mainly 'at a distance' I love the challenge of finding ways to convert techniques and support into a 'distance formats'. Anyone like to join me in a new topic on this?

I think most people don't think about copyright issues. If we think about books, software, or CDs, we've "purchased" one "license" for our personal use. We're generally legally allowed to make copies for our personal use. We make copies to mark up for research and study purposes. We make back-ups of software for archival purposes. We pay for music downloads for our personal use.

Some examples of infringement are pulling images from the internet and using them in your club's newletter, playing videos for children in paid daycare, copying CDs or DVDs and giving copies to your friends, copying and distributing other's materials at a workshop or demo when the purpose is for profit or marketing purposes.

It's not just polite to make a request from the QT admin office to copy and distribute their materials, it's US copyright law. I don't know how US copyright laws are prosecuted across international borders but I don't think that's the kind of relationship that QT practitioners want to have with QT administration.

Richard, Alain, Jody, and others have spent a lot of time and effort to discover the methods that they are teaching us. Just as we should be compensated for our efforts in our practices, we need to be respectful and to realize that QT headquarters should be compensated for their efforts. That said, every communication that I've seen from QT Admin on this subject has been very helpful.

Copyright laws are pretty international. Most nations have signed international agreements. There are local variances like how long copyright lasts after an author's demise, but the basics remain. All work is copyrighted to the author or his agent on creation. Registering the copyright with your government gives legal proof of the copyright. QT has done this.

No soapbox - I work with writers! Had to do the research.
