I have viewed the first two CDs of the Supercharging 5-CD course so far, and am amazed by Alain's ability to see the colors that the students are visualizing. So, attendance at a live workshop is obviously preferable to just seeing it via camera. But, I consider that I'll get my money's worth anyway.
Here is a suggestion, both for Alain and for CD viewers: the samples of the colors that are to be visualized can be given the translucent quality that Alain instructs students to visualize by holding the color sheet up to a strong white light shining on the back of the sheet. That is, the light illuminates the white back side of the color sheet, and the student looks at the front side. That image could be presented in the CD also, for the benefit of CD viewers. For each color, have one whole sheet with only that color on it, shine a white light on the back side, and film the front side. That doesn't work for the metallic colors and the mother-of-pearl color, of course, but it would help if sheets of those colors could be shown brightly iluminated. 20 seconds of presentation per color, accompanied by comments by Alain about what to notice, should suffice. |

Jim Farmer,
Excellent thought, yet the colors emerge as rather opaque as opposed to translucent, at least for me. Frustrating! Hmmmmmmmmmm... So I went through my stones, cut slices of each color shown and named on the 12 color sheet, lapped them down to mere slivers, circles of transclucent color, mounted them in the correct silver or gold, depending on the stone, and attached a silver or gold ring on two ends of the mountings, not the stone itself. I strung them in the correct order as given by Alain on a very strong chain. (Ihave parrots, I am sure you understand.) When I finished, I burnished everything but the parrot attached to the OTHER side of the chain/stone circle. There is no closure, as the entire chain is continous. I made sure the chain and stones were long enough to get on and off, if for some reason I went crazy, and there it is. Not hard to do, accurate color and if ya want, I kin thro in a parrot who is positive it is emerald green. Its fun, too. Thanks for the idea, zeneagle "Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul and sings the tune without words and never stops at all" Love ya fambly |

Hi Zen
I'm catching up on lots of back posts, and thought I'd bring this one forward. I would love to know which stones you used for the various colors! That is, I'd love this info unless a certain parrot demolished your handiwork, lol... Thanks! Holly |

Hiya, Holly!
I followed the stones set out in Melodies book on crystals. I am in need of one for myself, so am going to make three more. As I work, I will write the name of each stone, its worth and its rarity. I am sorry that I didn't get to you until now. Things are a bit chaotic around here, as you know. I will begin work on the wrist bands this coming week and will send a pic of them with their listins beside them. I don't know any lapidarists in Massachusetts, so will leave you on your own in your gathering and sorting of the stones. oh, the reason for needing three, as opposed to two? Parrots. I want one for myself, and they are faster, so am giving them large tumbled stones that they can't bite through, shatter, and ingest. How could one explain glass in ones birds crop? Hmmmm. Well, my avian vet expects almost anything from me, so won't worry. talk to you this week as I work. zeneagle "Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul and sings the tune without words and never stops at all" Love ya fambly |

I have tried to duplicate the colors in the way suggested and the problem is that each monitor shows things in slightly different shades.
Each time that they are copied for classes the colors need to be looked at and the machines recalibrated in order to get the tone correct. Even the printing for the book was incredibly difficult until we chose pantone colors that were basically correct. Then we find that as the printer prints things the ink varies each time it does a printing in each book as the amount of ink released varies slightly. Hence you get some that are really good and some a bit darker and some a bit lighter. Who knew it was this exciting to get color printed? Anyway you are right about setting the color plate against a window and noting its translucence. We say this in the class all the time. Thanks for the suggestions.
