I've actually had the opportunity to use this, or at least be a part in using it. This was a few years ago now, when I worked at a veterinary emergency hospital. A young dog came in that had been run over by a car, and his rear leg had been stripped of a large area of skin. We actually used table sugar as part of his bandaging procedure. I am happy to say he, and his leg, recovered very nicely.

Very interesting. I just saw an article posted on a surgical ward in a hospital regarding the begining trend of treating deep wounds with honey. Not sure, but I don't think antibiotics were necessary due to the honey's antibacterial properties. It was also noted to be beneficial as an antinflamatory.
Just the same the pictures with the wound being treated with sugar were amazing. I have seen many a deep wound at the hospital and none of them have been known to heal that fast....if at all. Thanks for sharing the info. M. |

I read that article too. I believe many were burn patients whose infections were antibiotic-resistant. They used Manuka honey, and it was a military hospital that was doing the tests and getting good results.

I read a very exciting article in the Daily Express about a Manuka 40+ honey which has been produced for various problems ranging from very bad scarring to different types of infections including MRSA. They also ran a story about a man who had cancer of the esophagus, his oncologist asked him to take the honey in large doses on a daily basis throughout his treatment. Well, the man whose photo was also there had lost hardly any hair, had been neither up nor down throughout the awful treatment and was given the all clear by his oncologist. I myself take Manuka honey ranging from 16 to 30+ every day and I can only say that if I should forget to take it for a few days I feel a difference in me, then realise I had forgotten my honey. My friend's father has MRSA around his nose and she purchased the Manuka cream and he is on the mend. It truly is a miracle honey.

I've read many places of the really great benefits of both sugar and honey for injuries and infections.
One other one that is really handy is using cayenne powder to stop bleeding. If you get cut, you just pour the red pepper onto it. My sister stops with just a bit; I take more of it. Taking cayenne water is also supposed to be good for stopping heart attacks and internal bleeding. I take capsules to stop heart palpitations; works pretty quickly. I believe that it is also good for shock. OH!!! Also heard from Lalita's book that a slice of raw onion is really good for insect bites/stings. She said kids love to apply the onion cure! Bet the drug companies don't like these kinds of cures! (Not even supplements! FOOD!!!) |
