Some years ago I wrote a small book on reincarnation. I called it "Reincarnation - You Keep Coming Back Like A Song!" Much of it was about my life in Japan as a Zen monk. How I turned from a killer warrior to interets in spirital things, which is part of me today.
When I was 12, I sat by a dying fire one frosty night. My legs were cold but suddenly, I noticed they were also wet! How come? I looked at my feet and I was wearing sandels and I had on the brown habit of a Fransciscian monk. I was carrind a hand-written bible with wooden covers. I was taking it from civilised Germany to the heathen in the Lowlands.I did not see the death but I knew that monk died before he got there.
This was a great revalation! I died as a monk but I live as a schoolboy!
In a word I AM INMORTAL. I NEVER DIE!"
But in the words of Willie Nelson, " I'll be back again and again and again and again!"
Since then I have seen a dozen other lives and had glimpses of scores more. I was part of a team who researched "Past Lives" in the sixtes.
I often thought of becoming a 'Past Life Therapist' but never had the money or the drive to set it up.
A NZ girl who lectured on past lives, in Heidleburg University planned to come back and set up a therapy center and promised to make me her asistant but the University doubled her salary so she did return here.
There's a song which says, "The road goes on for ever and the party never ends!" Nice one!

Huggie-Thanks for posting this lovely story.Your one of the lucky ones who remember the sixties,me,too!Did you know Helen Wambaugh? I took a class from her in the mid-seventies.I recall from an exercise of hers in this class to bring up a past life experience.I saw myself as a young girl,maybe eight,lovely face, long blond hair,mid-west,about the turn of the century.The exercise specified to go to a time just before death.It seemed as though I must have made it up at the time,but a few months ago,my husband and I tried an experiment I had heard about where you sit in a very low light room,and look into each other's eyes,keeping very still,and concentrating on eyes only.Many faces past before both our eyes,and my husband described one as being a lovely little girl with long blond hair.He didn't know about my experience before.I have since seen a few other faces ,including a sense of who they were,some of them the same as my husband saw.Verification?Since there is no time on another level of awareness,is our higher self experiencing these lives simutaneuosly?

DHEAL, Thanks interesting reply. I have not heard of that lady but have done the exercises you mention. I got the face of a young nun and although I was female last time I was a bar-maid not a nun! Have heard, many times of parallel worlds and simultaneous lives but I have no experience to support that. My linear mind dosn't cope with that.

Hi Huggie and DHEAL,
In my ashram days we were taught a 'staring meditation' called 'tratak.'The object of the stare was a candle. A long enough stare often resulted in a drop below the level of consensus reality into what's called 'the 'unobstructed universe' in the 'Betty' books. (These are very hard to read and require a real committment to learning about the out-of-body world.)

Another staring meditation was called TR Zero and came to me and my group from Scientology. I'm sure it had many more ancient antecedents. It involved sitting opposite a partner and looking unblinkingly into each others' left eye. In this exercise the face of the partner began to change steadily from one countenance to another to another. With each there was sometimes a sense of the 'history' or time location (18th century Spain, i.e.) of the referenced face, and sometimes not.

The Tibetans have a staring practice, the Sky Meditation, calling for lying on the ground in a meditative state and staring at the sky. Many have found this powerful and revealing.

Finally there is a little practice I have been doing since childhood, when I first noticed the 'heat shimmer'coming off my fingertips, and indeed surrounding my whole body. Today I know it is the first and densest layer of the aura. I like to stare at it, directing my stare to the tiny space between the two in which I can see both my fingertip and the aura. Through thinking about this little aura band and watching it closely I can see it flare up and die back, blossom out and almost radiate, then resume its original shape and position. Nothing much of an insight or visual dog-and-pony show comes with this...only a sense of comfort and satisfaction with life as it is.
