Up until now I haven't really had anything to do with crystals.......

However, my sister mentioned the other day that she would love a crystal ball and it happened a few days later that I was at an antique shop that I had been to the week before, which now for some reason is stocking dozens and dozens of different types of crystal balls.

I looked for one for my sister, but nothing felt right, however, found myself walking out with two for myself!

They are four to five inches in diameter. One is quartz and the other is a pale yellow colour.

I found myself thinking about them the other night when I was running distant energy, so unwrapped them and was sitting playing with them while QT ing away and felt the energy amp up like nothing I have experienced before. They also seemed to have a hand preference. One definately liked my left hand and the other my right.

So I tried the tree rooting idea from one of Alain's workshops, directing my intent towardsthe earth's crystal energy and that was something else too.

Afterwards, I felt inclined to put them on top of a cupboard - one at each corner - and now find myself really having to fight off the urge to trundle out and bring home more. Lots more!!!!

They had some nice pink ones - pretty sure they are rose quartz - and I am thinking a cluster of those would be just lovely and some other colours about the place too.

However, I have recollections of cleansing that can/should? be done with crystals and that they are not just straight forward ornamentally.

If I did end up with a dozen or two is that potentially a bad thing? Would I be throwing my house out of balance or something?

Any thoughts - constructive ones - would be appreciated.

They are just so lovely and complete somehow.

Hi Donna,

Crystals are powerful intention amplifiers. I used a large rose quartz in one hand and a lemurian quartz in the other hand for a group healing last night. I was buzzed on energy for hours after the session.

There are several ways to clear crystal, put them out in the sun for a day, rinse them in water, soak them in salt water, or run energy through them with intent to clear stagnant energy. There's probably a couple of more ways to clear a crystal. I don't think you will throw your house out of balance with the crystals. You might want to exercise caution in putting them near where you sleep. Some people can get a little to much energy from them. I'm sure there are others here with some good tips.

What a lovely post.
Firstly I would like to say that my house overflows with crystals, as I am also a Crystal Healing Practitioner & Teacher, so I was just having a little chuckle to myself, I know exactly how attractive they can be. My oldest daughter Danielle is a geologist & her home has more crystals in it than I thought would ever be possible (she has made her crystal hobby her second source of income & sells crystals all around the world!)
I would say just have an amethyst on your bedside tables & a rose quartz or two. That would be enough in your bedroom I feel, unless of course the energies don't bother you.

You can never have too many crystals! Welcome them to your home, wash them gently upon arrival, intend to "clear" them by holding in your hands and thinking "clear," and let them beautify & illuminate your environment. They're wonderful tools, & when people come to your home, inevitably, if the see a crystal collection, they are instantly attracted to it, usually say "Oohhhh" and ask you about the various ones.

I have many many, know the origin of almost all of them, am attracted to different ones at different times. If I pick one up, it's probably because that frequency of vibration called to me, or I need that exact thing at this exact time. Many have been gifts, & those are "connections" to the givers that are deeply treasured.

PS: Salt will etch quartz. The Vogel cutters, (two in the world) and Dr. Vogel, now deceased, repeatedly stressed that salt and quartz is a very bad mix! If you have an expensive crystal & want to ruin it fast, put salt on it. There are other excellent ways to clear a crystal...Please, give your quartz a break and do not salt it.

I had to swear off buying more crystals and stones a couple of years ago: getting overcrowded with them and my energy system was spiking!

But I'm so grateful for your reminder about Vogels (I don't own any): I got the "hit" that it is finally time to buy one for my distance healing practice: I contacted the folks at Vogel Crystals, who are wonderful. Now time to meditate on how many facets etc.

Your crystal is an absolute, draw-dropping stunner - I didn't know crystals like that existed and the site is a treasure.

On the back of your replies I trundled out a couple of days ago and bought about ten more balls. I just love the shape, the feel and the look of each of them. They had about two hundred to choose from. Most of them are about the size of my hand, but there were two about the size of very large marbles and they were almost completely clear and they wanted to come home too!

I was wondering what to put them in, as the stands did not feel right and the top of my cupboard was not right and then just today outside the supermarket was a stall that was only there for today and it had two lovely teak, naturally formed and then finished trays - well one is more of a bowl and the other more of a deep tray and the crystals are just singing since I put them in there.

I feel quite clucky when I look at them

On the table in my living room is a turned wood bowl that I use for crystal spheres and eggs, quartz, selenite, jade, obsidian, malachite, & others. Beisde it is a kalaidescope (sp??) with crystal shards inside that make the patterns you see when looking thru it. Jewel colors, real ones. The lamp on the table is made of a huge selenite crystal lighted from inside, that lends such a wonderful vibration to the room.

The coffee table has a large tray of crystals, a big abalone shell full of small fake Vogels, fun to play with, & both tables have baskets underneath full of stones & crystals.

None of them are random...I know where I found them or bought them or who gave them to me. My life's stories are in the stone...my travels, beliefs, my friends, family and loved ones. And that's only one room.

One thing about taking stones from the earth: Native Americans leave a small offering of thanks when they take a flower, plant, or stone from Mother Earth. It's usually a pinch of tobacco, or cedar, sage or sweetgrass, but tobacco is the most common. I carry a little pouch of loose tobacco in a ziplock bag, it is just the respectful thing to do. If you can't leave an offering, at least say "Thank you" to the earth.

I have tons of crystals in my room. Just a couple in the living room and at work. I was warned about not being able to sleep with too many around, but as I am pretty much energy dense, they don't effect me at all! A friend the other day was downsizing, and gave me a block of rose quartz; it's about 6 inches by 6 inches. Had never SEEN a rose quartz so large. And she told me she thought they had cut that one in half when they gave it to her! WHOOOOAAAAAAA!!! Tooo cool!

She also gave me a cluster with really large amethyst crystals on it. All of mine are the small crystal clusters, so just love this one!

I just love all of mine! It is VERY easy to get carried away with these babies!!!
