Hi All, Smiler

Maybe this is a completely useless Roll Eyes post and say " oh, I knew that " but I will take the risk anyway.

After reading the e-book "The missing ingredient for good health" a nutritional breakthrough.... why you can take antioxidants,Vitamins, Herbs and Minerals and still be sick. by Lee Euler.

Well It's ENZYMES ! so after some ?????? and a bit of.....hmmmm....OK...so it's Enzymes, I wondered...... WHAT are enzymes really, ( you HAVE to know of course to be able to take them ) so I Googled and found this site www.enzymestuff.com . found this page and thought I'd post it for maybe there are some amongst you who also, like me do not exactly know what Enzymes are......or maybe I am the only one Eeker

There is of course much more info at this site.

How Enzymes Work

Enzymes are very specific. Each has a particular job it does and it does only that job. So you want to get the right type of enzymes for the right type of food or job you want the enzyme to work on. Enzymes must have the right shape and chemistry to function.

How Enzymes Are Named

At first, enzymes were named with an ending of -in. These usually note pancreatic enzymes because these were indentified first: trypsin, rennin (used in cheese making), pepsin, chymotrypsin, etc.

Then researchers went to a naming system where any enzyme was given the ending -ase. This is used for metabolic as well as digestive enzymes. When you see -ase, read it as 'an enzyme which acts on...whatever is the front part of the name.'

Sugars usually end in -ose (lactose, sucrose, fructose). So sucrase is an enzyme which acts on sucrose. In this case, the action is to break it down.

Lactase is an enzyme which acts on lactose - in this case, the action is to break lactose down.

One metabolic enzyme is pyruvate dehydrogenase. This is an enzyme which acts on pyruvate, and the action is to remove a hydrogen molecule. Just an example of an action that is not food breakdown. There are many other types of actions too. An enzyme reaction important with sulfur is phenol sulfotransferase. It involves the transfer of sulfur with a phenol compound.

All enzymes themselves are proteins that consist of amino acids just like all other proteins.

and much more .........

Love and Light to you All

A Little more info about Enzymes from the e-book " The missing ingredients for good health "

The reason for my diving into the topic "enzymes" is really that I do not know so much about it and am fascinated by what I have just recently learned. Hope this info puts you on a Enzyme adventure like me by eating them or even easier swallowing them. Apparently they also play a big role in helping Autism.

This site www.enzymestuff.com gives so much info for example:
Sensory Integration, Migraines/Pain, Digestive Disorders, Food Sensitivities, Leaky Gut, Bacteria / Yeast , Viruses, PDD/Autism Spectrum, AD(H)D , Autoimmune / Neuro Cond., Cancer , Celiac, Heart/ Vascular Health, Sports.

There are 3 main types of digestive enzymes:
1. Protein-eating enzymes(proteases or proteolytic enzymes);
2. Carbohydrate-eating enzymes(amylases);
3. Fat-eating enzymes (lipases).

A balanced enzyme formula will tipically contain all three.

Within each of the big 3 categories you will find MANY different kinds of enzymes. For example Bromelain (from Pineapple) and Papain (from Papaya)are both protain-eating enzymes or Proteases.

Fungus derived enzymes may be the best of all.
When the ingredients are actually labeled "Protease, Amylase and Lipase" it usually means the enzymes are made from a certain type of fungus called Aspergillus.

The enzymes are thoroughly purified and contain no whole, indetifiable fungus particles that might set off an immunesystem reacion.Assuming you are not allergic to Fungi, this type of enzyme may be the best choice.
An enzyme supplement containing Bromelain, Papain and Aspergillus-derived Amylase, Lipase and Protease can be a better choice than enzymes from animals like oxen and pigs.

Eeker O just one more thing apparently they are not so sure if the enzymes in frozen fruits vegatables are depleted or not. Before they are frozen they undergo a process called blanching. It's purpose is to kill enzymes that can alter the taste of the food.(according to Anthony Cichoke)

Raw Foods Rich in Enzymes

A great approach to improving digestive enzyme function in the body is to eat some raw fruits or vegetables at every meal. This is particularly important when ingesting hard-to-digest foods, such as meat.

Foods rich in enzymes include:
• Fermented foods, such as yogurt or
kefir (a drink made with milk-fermenting
enzymes and yeasts.)
• Unpasteurized fruit juices in between meals.
• Soy sauce.
• Miso.
• Tempeh.
• Pineapple (produces bromelain).
• Papaya (produces papain).
• Aspergillis, a type of mushroom.
• Bananas.
• Avocados.
• Grapes.
• Mangoes.
• Fresh raw dates.
• Fresh raw figs.
• Raw honey.
• Raw butter.
• Unpasteurized raw milk.
• Germinated inhibitor-free cereal grains, seeds and tree nuts.
• Herbal bitters: Gentian, wormwood, boldo, goldenseal, barberry, dandelions and hops.
Many of the herbs can be found in bitter combinations.
Artichoke is another great bitter.

Raw foodists will tell you that the enzymes are killed at 118 degree Farenheit. Logically then, blanching would kill the enzymes on the surface of the food but maybe not on the inside of the food. Some raw foodists do not eat frozen, some do.

Personally, the more raw I eat, the better I feel. I have no digestion or bowel problems when I eat raw and my poo odor is very mild.

Odd. Your list did not include raw vinegar.
This is perhaps one of the easiest ways to get many enzymes. The amount recommended I've seen is a tablespoon a day, but if you have a problem--heart, vein, digestive, skin, and more--you can drink a quarter cup.

You'll find this also increase your energy and mental accuity.

By the way it is not just a treatment, it has been shown to cure many things. I think it must bring the whole system into balance.

Raw apple cider vinegar is considered better than wine vinegar by some poeple because it does not have sulfites.
However, the natural sulfites in wine and especially wine vinegar are beneficial for digestion and plaque removal as well--and wine vinegar does not have all the same enzymes as apple vinegar. (But you can get Raw apple vinegar with the mother in it, which is where all the enzymes are gathered.)

It works. If you can't stand the flavor, eat a salad.

Vinegar can also be used to sanitize and wash your "raw" food. For this, distilled vinegar leaves less flavor after rinsing.

Hi Kweden,

THANKS Smiler for the info. I googled on Raw Apple vingar and found on this site www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/acvinegar.html some very interesting things you can cure with the vinegar. On one site I read if you cannot stand the taste there are also pills.

BTW Kweden, glad you "just haven't left" for your mountain.

Apple Cider Vinegar Cures
Updated: 08/20/2008

Apple Cider Vinegar, that wonderful old-timers home remedy, cures more ailments than any other folk remedy -- we're convinced! From the extensive feedback we've received over the past 8 years, the reported cures from drinking Apple Cider Vinegar are numerous. They include cures for allergies (including pet, food and environmental), sinus infections, acne, high cholesterol, flu, chronic fatigue, candida, acid reflux, sore throats, contact dermatitis, arthritis, and gout. One reader reported that a shot of ACV saved him from going to the emergency room for heart pain. Apple Cider Vinegar also breaks down fat and is widely used to lose weight. It has also been reported that a daily dose of apple cider vinegar in water has high blood pressure under control in two weeks!

CoolI realized I am a year late.I have been buying books and buying books. I knew about apple cider vinagar. I have known about Olive Leaf Extract for some years now. I used garlic ,onions and chicken broth to ward off the flu.My buddy used Olive Leaf Extract.I said let's switch and see that they both work the same on each other. He said Why would I eat garlic, onion and chicken broth when I can take one supplement a day.I did try the extract and it cured me of the flu.Everyone else had it for atleast 7 days. My buddy and I, just fine. Then they sell the Never Get The Flu Again book.It tells you the secret that you already know.I keep getting this email to buy this book for a year now. So I just google this title everytime I get the email. Thank You so much for posting. What is the missing ingredient for good health.ENZYES!Wow I am so glad you posted that. I would of been ripped off because that is not a missing ingredient. Not with all the pineapple,Papaya,Bananas,Grapes,Mango and Yum,raw honey that I eat.

Thanks Pinky...and all who did reply to her post. I had just read an extremely long e-mail from Jenny at HSI that truly praised what she called "the supplement" without ever naming it .. just named a book for sale about this supplement. Also the enzyme site you shared is very good.

I am grateful to read the info on this website.
As a nurse I am frequently asked about nutrition and have always look outside "traditional medicine" for natural cures.
I strongly support the raw food movement and juice as often as possible. I practice hands on healing as well.
I am in the mental health field and work with drug addicts. Does anyone have any ideas that might help these clients?
A great number of them are detoxing from alcohol and prescibed pain medications. Some are detoxing from heroin and designer drugs...
Any feedback about natural treatment would be appreciated. I can't tell you how much pain and suffering the families of these clients experience as well as the clients themselves.

Bettyg You might be interested in Kelley Eidem's book the Doctor Who Cures Cancer. This doctor Revici also did a lot of very innovative work on addiction and alcoholism, apparently with success and minimal detoxing problems. Everything about Revici's mind was innovative as far as I can see! I'm about half way through this riveting book.

I used to drink a ''cocktail''. It was the low sodium tomato or vegetable juice from the HFS, with a couple spoonfuls of Bragg's ACV, and a good snitch of cayenne and ginger! It's really zingy!

I think I need to start back on mine!
