Hi All,
This is from the website: Facts about honey and cinnamon: Sorry ! again put down the wrong website just deleted it will have a look for the right one I found the information here. Try typing: Advanced Scientific Health Research Guide I seem to have a thing ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Q. What is the only food that doesn't spoil? A. Honey ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It is found that a mixture of Honey and Cinnamon cures most of the diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Ayurvedic as well as Yunani medicine have been using honey as a vital medicine for centuries. Scientists of today also accept honey as a "Ram Ban" (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases. Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada, on its issue dated 17 January, 1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by Honey and Cinnamon as researched by western scientists. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heartbeat. In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as age the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalizes the arteries and veins. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week out of the 200 people so treated practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain. mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, given to a cholesterol patient, was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10% within 2 hours. As mentioned for arthritic patients, if taken 3 times a day, any Chronic cholesterol is cured. As per information received in the said journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol. In China, Japan and Far-East countries, women, who do not conceive and need to strengthen the uterus, have been taking cinnamon powder for centuries. Women who cannot conceive may take a pinch of cinnamon powder in half teaspoon of honey and apply it on the gums frequently throughout the day, so that it slowly mixes with the saliva and enters the body. A couple in Maryland, USA, had no children for 14 years and had lost hope of having a child of their own. When told about this process, husband and wife started taking honey and cinnamon as stated above; the wife conceived after a few months and had twins at full term. Life spans also increases and even a 100 year old, starts performing the chores of a 20-year-old. Also, drinking of this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet. Dr. Milton who has done research says that a half tablespoon honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3.00 p.m. when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, increases the vitality of the body within a week. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month ... which we know today as the honeymoon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We are not doctors and do not diagnose or recommend treatments for disease. However, we are people that have discovered certain truths that need to be shared with others. Our purpose is to share the truths we have found and allow each man and each woman a choice, so they may make better informed decisions about their future. Pinky,
This is great. I recommend cinnamon to people all the time! I buy 1 pound bags of organic cinnamon from Shop Natural (http://shopnatural.com) here in the US. I would imagine there's something comparable over there in the Netherlands, and other places around the world. As for honey, you probably know this, but it's really best to get raw honey from a local producer who uses a natural process without a lot of insecticides and sugar water, and that kind of thing. Raw local honey can help with allergies, because it has a small amount of all the local environmental allergens in it, and so it's kind of like getting little allergy shots every day (only waaaay more pleasant!). I do also like the YS Organic Honey that you can get online at the Vitamine Shoppe. It's nice and creamy. Thanks for posting this. Your posts are alway so helpful. xxoo Denise To request a Quantum Thought Collective Healing Intention (QT CHI) for yourself or others: http://quantumtouch.groupee.net/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6311071811/m/4371031152 |

I found this article very interesting:
Enjoy Karen Cinnamon: Help for Insulin Resistance and Weight Loss Popular and Flavorful Spice is New Aid in the Battle Against Buddha Belly/Belly Fat by Mary Shomon If you think cinnamon is simply something to sprinkle on your cookies or cappuccino, think again. The popular spice, once considered more precious than gold, has medicinal value that is making even pharmaceutical companies take notice. Cinnamon, it turns out, has long been used to cure everything from athlete’s foot to indigestion. Early civilizations recognized its ability to stop bacterial growth. The Egyptians used it in embalming. During the Middle Ages, it was mixed with cloves and warm water, and placed in the sick rooms of victims of the Bubonic Plague. Recent research indicates that cinnamon can have favorable effects on brain function. Participants in a study chewed cinnamon gum or smelled the sweet spice. Cognitive tests revealed that subjects who used cinnamon had better memory functions and could process information more quickly. Encouraged by these findings, scientists will now conduct studies to see if cinnamon will improve mental skills in the elderly and those prone to anxiety before testing. That antiseptic power of the spice could also account for a couple of other medical applications for cinnamon. A Japanese study suggests it can not only soothe the stomach, it may even help prevent ulcers. German research claims cinnamon “suppresses completely” the bacteria that causes urinary tract infections and the fungus associated with yeast infections as well. But few could have predicted its current high profile. Recent headlines about cinnamon are the result of an accidental finding in a Maryland USDA research center. Incredibly, the catalyst was as American as good old apple pie, flavored with -- what else -- cinnamon. Scientists were testing the effects of various foods on blood sugar (glucose) levels. They expected the classic pie to have an adverse effect, but instead they found it actually helped lower blood glucose levels. The researchers then took their surprising discovery and tested it in a small 60 patient study conducted in Pakistan, reporting in the journal Diabetes Care. All the patients had been treated for type 2, adult onset diabetes for several years and were taking anti-diabetic drugs to increase their insulin output. But they were not yet taking insulin to help process their blood glucose. The subjects were given small doses of cinnamon ranging from as little as a quarter teaspoon to less than 2 teaspoons a day for 40 days. The results: Not only did the cinnamon reduce their blood sugar levels and increase their natural production of insulin, it lowered their blood cholesterol as well. Even 20 days after the cinnamon treatment had ended, the patients continued to see beneficial effects. This is good news for the more than 50 million Americans who suffer from diabetes and/or heart disease. All the patients in the study showed better glucose metabolism and natural insulin production when they took cinnamon capsules that delivered less than two teaspoons a day of the spice. Specifically, their blood cholesterol levels were lowered in the range of 10 to 26 percent, affecting overall cholesterol levels and reducing the LDL (known as the “bad” cholesterol) but not reducing levels of HDL, the “good” cholesterol. This is also potentially good news for the many millions more of us who suffer from insulin resistance, sometimes known as “prediabetes,” or the “Metabolic Syndrome.” Lowering blood sugar levels, and improving cholesterol ratios can help reverse prediabetes and Metabolic Syndrome, and in fact may actually prevent the worsening of health to full diabetes. In addition, addressing elevated blood sugar levels and helping to combat insulin resistance may be a successful factor in helping you lose weight. The fat cells in your abdomen are particularly sensitive to high insulin levels, and are very effective at storing energy – far more so that fat cells you’d find in other areas such as the lower body (i.e. hips, rear end, thighs). Because abdominal fat cells are so close to your digestive organs, and there is an extensive network of blood vessels circulating in the abdominal area, it’s even easier for fat cells to store excess glucose there. So tactics that help to reduce If you suffer from elevated cholesterol or diabetes you will want to consult your physician before beginning to use cinnamon in large quantities. And if you are already taking a diabetes medication, you should talk to your physician before trying cinnamon for medicinal uses, because cinnamon may have an impact on your blood sugar. Using Cinnamon Some people prefer to use cinnamon as a supplement, and this is certainly a safe and effective way to incorporate cinnamon into your diet. Be sure you pick a quality supplement. Others would rather get their ½ to 2 teaspoons of cinnamon a day using the spice in their foods. The cinnamon you can pick up off any grocery shelf comes from the bark of the evergreen cinnamon tree, and was probably grown in China. You’ll find it in stick or ground form at most markets and health food stores. For patients who want to try cinnamon, there are many tasty and simple ways you can enjoy this aromatic spice. * Steep your favorite herbal tea with a cinnamon stick adds flavor to the tea * Add one-half teaspoon of cinnamon to unsweetened applesauce * Add cinnamon to your breakfast cereal or oatmeal * Sprinkle on toast * Adding cinnamon to butter or cream cheese * Sprinkle cinnamon on your morning cup of coffee, cocoa or cappuccino Cinnamon also combines very favorably with many baked fruits like peaches and apples as well as fruit juices and ciders. For more ideas, check out this wonderful selection of Cinnamon Recipes from About’s Homecooking Site. To get the most out of the cinnamon you add to your recipes, make sure it is fresh. The best test is to open the jar in your kitchen and sniff. If the smell is strong and sweet your cinnamon is fresh. If the aroma is weak or non-existent, it’s time to throw it away and restock your spice rack. To keep cinnamon, seal the container tightly and store it away from the light. |

Well Pinky - You have my thanks!!! The URL to the site Pinky referenced is http://www.angelfire.com/az/sthurston/honeyandcinnamon.html.
I tend to have a healthy balance between open mindedness and skepticsm, so when someone tries to sell me a cure-all-snake-oil, I usually ignore it and go on. Fortunately, my trust in Pinky swayed me the other way and I did some research. Honey and cinnamon both have a long standing history of healing properties. Two other items that kept popping up during my research were lemon juice and apple cider vinegar, especially when combined with honey. So, the scientist in me decided to do some informal testing. After a week's worth of testing, here is my results: JUMP JUICE 1/2 large or 1 whole small fresh peeled lemon 1 teaspoon RAW honey 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 cup cold water Drop the lemon, honey and cinnamon in a blender until liquified, then add water and blend for a few more seconds. Drink first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and a 1/2 hour before eating. Note: the water is cold to preserve the enzymes in the lemon and honey - heating would kill them and lessen the effectiveness. Repeat again in the afternoon at least 2 hours after or a 1/2 hour before eating. Clears away depression, fatigue, and the fuzzy brain drain. No guarantees that it will wax your car or put money in the bank - that part is up to you I tried it with a number of variations: - apple cider vinegar instead of lemon - works, but not as good - other citrus (orange or grapefruit) - again, works but not as good - started off with whole large lemon, but that left me with an unsettled stomach, half large lemon works just as good with no stomach problems - more honey - too sweet, no additional benefits - less honey - not as much energy - more cinnamon - jittery and kept tasting it all day - less cinnamon - not as effective - commercial honey vs raw - works, but the raw has greater effect. NOTE: processed honey was easier to mix and costs less, but only seemed about half as effective for the same amount and if I used too much, caused a sugar/insulin imbalance which RAW honey did not. - regular vs organic cinnamon - organic cinnamon seemed to work better, but I think that was due to it being fresher, rather than any special properties relating to it being organic. If you want to sleep, don't take within 6 hours of going to bed or you may find yourself doing chores around the house instead of counting sheep. This message has been edited. Perhaps a dumb question - when you say whole or half lemon, do you mean the WHOLE lemon? Peel and all? or the juice of a whole or half lemon????
Sounds great!! I think I will see about flavoring swamp goo with cinnamon as well.... Hugs! |

Peeled lemon - sorry I didn't specify. Although, lemon peel is good, a little goes a long ways.
