I used to get it every winter but cured it by going in a float tank in Aussie, which allowed my spine to straighten, so that I felt sparkling energy in between each vertabrae.
Last night, I sent distant healing to Scott who is in 'mad' pain from it. I chased the pain down for a start and then found the accupunture points, one each side of that vertabrae and a bit over an inch away.
If you press these points you will likey find them sensitive or painful, Keep a moderate pressure until the paid lets up. Oftn I could completely releive the pain and one can do this for oneself!
If you are doing "Distant", they may suck energy, like a "black hole". Feel around, as if you were actully touching. These points are v. effective in helping sciatica. Before you go, energise the whole nearby area and the spine.
You can help your spine by visualizing the bones on an elastic thread and streatch both ends. I used to pull my knees up to my chest and get my son to sit on them! (awful!)
With love,
Huggie

That's great!

I'll let you in on a little massage secret. Those points are also trigger points for a hip muscle that the sciatic nerve runs through. When the muscle gets tight, it puts pressure on the nerve and can cause moderate to excruciating pain. You used QT to release the muscle. Stretching exercises (though not quite as extreme as having a small child sit on the knees <g>Wink can help keep them from tightening up again. Here's a good one to do -- http://www.stretchman.com/selfpiriformis.html

Keep up the good work.

I toke a look at the book "Vital points for oriental theraphy" to see the points you mencioned and found this : ...The pain is the result of pressure on the sciatic nerves-the thickest in the body...
Then comes the interesting part: But since disturbances in the spinal column, diabetes, sickness of thr pelvic region, AND CANCER, can be accompained by the same symptoms, intense physical examinations must be conducted before a certain diagnosis can be made.
That's why may frind/patient, who has cancer has this pain, like sciatic. It's go to know that, unfortunately, that's the way it has to be. I mean, it's something that is likely to happen to everybody who has cancer, not only to him.
Well, the pain is under control.
