Does anyone have experience of thoughts on how QT might be used to enhance/enable lucid dreaming? I plan to try some things and report on what I find and would love to hear anything any of you can add to the discussion.

Hi MH

You know I just love this place, such open hearted open minded folks. What a wonderful inquiry you are engaged in. I would think that QT could very well help our lucidity in the dreamtime.

Your post is timely indeed, as I was exploring dream practices before I accepted a long term sub position, and put them on hold. I have now completed teaching, and want to get back to the dream practices. I can only see QT intensifying the experience of lucidity.

Perhaps you could share what you will be experimenting with. I practice traditional Tsalagi (Cherokee) teachings, in general. There is some teaching and visualization practice for dreamtime lucidity, found in the book, Voices of Our Ancestors, by Dhyani Ywahoo. Also, with all of the Tsalagi teachings, the teachings go deeper than what is in written form. I am going to begin again to focus some energy on the practices. I will also be attending a teaching day on Sunday and if the opportunity arises I will bring up the dream practices.

Part of the Tsalagi dream practice is to review the day to be sure we discern which thoughts, emotions, and actions experienced during the day are in harmony with our life purpose. I am new to QT, but intuitively see QT as being a powerful tool in the transformation of those thought, emotions and actions.

I look forward to reports from you and the comments of others as well.

Shalom

Hey, Master herbalist! I just saw that you were in Littleton. Another person on the forum from the Denver area. whoo hoo!!

Back to your post. I never would have even thought about applying an energetic modality like QT to lucid dreaming. I'm not going to say it wouldn't do anything. What the heck do I know? Smiler But I'm not sure why it would have an effect on your dreaming.

It will be interesting to hear about your testing. Let us know how it goes! If you find a way to affect your dreams using QT, I'm sure we'd all love to give it a try.

Hi Master Herbalist,

I think if it's your intention to become more perceptively open then I think it's entirely possible that QT can help you.

In my own experience, after about a month of using QT on a daily basis, I found my field of perception had suddenly blown wide open and I could see and sense things far beyond what I could before.

The 3rd eye is an interesting area to explore, as it's commonly considered to be the point from which most extra sensory perception originates.

Lucid dreaming (in my opinion) comes from allowing your consciousness to occupy your 3rd eye point or pineal gland as you drift off to sleep.

Good luck, and happy dreaming!

Hi Master Herbalist,

I agree with Sonja, intent will help you progress much faster.

As a kid of about 9 or 10, I would watch cartoons on tv on saturday mornings from when I woke up until they ended. I greatly disliked it, putting it mildly, when it would say at the end, "to be continued" Grrrrrrrr!!!

When I figured out what the word meant, being a kid, I decided once after I woke up, ending a nice dream to try that on myself. I just said to myself, "to be continued". Well that night I dreamed the exact dream again! Cool eh? Smiler

I remember doing that three times for sure, and working. I have lucid dreams several times a week now. But I have not thought of "intending" them. Thanks for bring up the thought!

So, intend to dream lucid dreams, and I feel that it will start working for you.

Namaste, Dennis

Hi, Master Herbalist - I would imagine that increasing the flow of energy through your body, and thereby opening up all your energy channels more and more, it could have an effect.

My son had lucid dreams often through his teens, though not so much anymore for some reason, but I've never been successful. (I've tried to do various exercises, but I'm by nature very inconsistent about doing anything every single day, so after a few days I'd get distracted and stop.) I've always thought it would be really neat!

I'd love you to do an experiment and actively apply Q-T to something in your dream that seems like it could use healing - a person or situation - and let me know what happens!

I look forward to vicariously enjoying your lucid dreams! :-D

On a related note a little Core Transformation will quickly pull my wife out of a nightmare when she has them. Very calming, and I beleive changes the "atmosphere" of the dream. Works on my little maltese when he has a bad dream too. I think CT would only enhance the dream state.

Hello,

I am enjoying this topic. I sometimes have lucid dreams and never imagined trying QT while in the dream state. I will take up the cause and see what I can do.

I'm on board with Sonja and Steve on this one - QT in general is really what is responsible for reopening that part of myself; the Core work blew the doors wide open.

Keep us posted, MH Smiler

Hey Everybody,

I've started my QT/Lucid dreaming experiments and here's what I've found so far (Bear in mind that one of the reasons I wanted to start this thread is that Lucidity in dreams doesn't come very easily to me. I think the reason is that I used to have nightmares somewhat often as a child and as soon as I realized I was dreaming I would wake myself up. I got in the habit of doing that and now when I realize that I'm dreaming, I have trouble staying in the dream for more than a few additional seconds. It's getting easier as I practice but it's slow going. I did some emotional QT work in the hopes that it would help my subconscious to stop expecting nightmares and waking me up, and it seems to be helping as I've been able to stay in the dream longer after becomming lucid...):

With or without QT, I've found that the only way I can usually have a lucid dream is by holding the intention to dream lucidly as I fall asleep, and I have to do that several nights in a row before I start achieving lucidity in dreams.

I tried what Sonja suggested and let my consciousness occupy my 3rd eye point just as I drift off to sleep and it does seem to help lucidity come a little more easily. I think it was also the cause of my dreams being a bit more vivid and I had the sense that I was actually perceiving something outside the dream, although I don't know yet what it was as my dreams tend to be extremely metaphorical and "far out" in their imagery.

Last night I tried intending a QT-CHI session for myself to start after I fell asleep with the specific intention of aiding lucidity. I don't remember if I ever actually became lucid in the dream or not, but I do recall having very vivid and realistic dreams. I plan to try this one again and see if I can get more results this time.

On a related note, I have found in previous experiments that a tea of mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) - made with one teaspoon of the herb to a cup of distilled water - can dramatically increase the vividness of my dreams, to the point that even after becomming lucid, I wonder whether I'm really dreaming or if it's actually real! The down side to this is that it makes any kind of dream more realistic, including the unpleasant kind - once I woke up drenched in sweat, heart racing, and had trouble getting to sleep for about three days after! So then I tried making the tea with half mugwort and half thyme (the spice). Thyme is a natural mood elevator and antidepressant that has a reputation for preventing nightmares. With the thyme/mugwort combination tea I get a somewhat mellowed increase in the realism of my dreams with no more nightmares. I drink the tea right before bed. If too much time passes between the tea and sleep, it doesn't effect my dreams much. So far it seems to only make my dreams brilliant technicolor - I haven't yet noticed an increase in lucidity with the tea. That seems to come only when I practice for a while and intend lucidity several nights in a row.

The experiment continues: keep the great suggestions and experiences comming. :-)

Master Herbalist, I am watching your thread with interest!

At this point, I'm not sure if I do want lucid dreams, but mine are always vivid, realistic, in colour, and not always a comfort LOL Big Grin (lots of chasing usually, guess I know what it means that I have to keep running away!).

What I would perhaps like a little more control over is the false awakening dreams and the sleep paralysis dreams! (Anyone else have them? how do you deal with them?)

So I will wait and watch, and see what you experience! It could be a valuable lesson!

Peace and blessings,
Jo
