I don't know much about the medical facts on this subject, however have a nephew, Mike, in Omaha, NE who was diagnosed with this condition by doctors. He took meds for many years and then felt as though he were doped up all the time so quit taking them.
When I visit there, which is maybe every 2 yrs or so...he seems to be contacting information from outer space. He had bouts with drugs as a teenager, I believe, and alcohol later on. Think he is off both substances at this time. I feel like there is a fine line between being psychic and schizophrenia. His mom, my sister, was born with a caul on her face and often knows things intuitively. They have all had a HARD life...the whole family. Mike was jailed recently and in jail for about 6 mos after starting a fight. Sometimes he is coherent but at other times he talks so fast ...it's hard to understand him. Does anyone have any insights on this condition and how QT is helping to alleviate the stess, etc. At one time my sister said a psychic told her that Mike is psychic...which is very possible. I think we all are in many ways. Feel like his energy was not yet directed toward a path of wellness and not sure anyone is helping him at this time. Have placed him on the "healing circle" message board sometimes. There is little communication from them so don't know how QT has helped. Any insights on this I would appreciate. |

It seems schisophrenic disorders occur around the age of 30 or so. My grandmother had a real hard life herself. Abusive husbands, and many mis diagnoses with her meds, and ancient ways of treating her disorder which just may have really knocked her off the edge. She does well for a while and is off her rocker the rest of the time.
I will send some healing love for Mike in Omaha NE. It does seem that people with these conditions are very apt to be psychic with psychic abilities. Just without the ability to focus completely. If you send me more specific where-abouts for him I will help. Ciao for now- Karma- SHILOH |

I tend to agree that psychosis seems to be somehow linked to psychic experience out of control and without the ability to differentiate it from input from the normal five senses. Also, fear and rage play an imbalanced role in perception and interpretation of sensory and extrasensory experience. My family line also has an inordinate number of healers, psychics and people with psychotic disorders.
Pressured speech can be a symptom of bipolar (formerly called manic depressive) disorder. In some cases, severe manic episodes can include psychotic symptoms. Also, a related mental disorder diagnosis is called schizoaffective disorder. It is a combination of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Your nephew sounds as though his symptoms may fit one of these conditions. Both disorders involve neurochemical imbalances and/or hypersensitivity to certain neurochemicals. If you want to do remote healing, I would focus on the adrenal glands (located on top of the kidneys). The reason for this approach is that it helps to balance the brain chemistry through the "back door" by balancing serum adrenaline and cortisol (stress hormones) levels. Production in the brain of dopamine, one of the chemicals which affects mental vigilance to sensory stimuli and is related to psychosis, is closely tied to stress and the production of adrenaline (the "fight or flight" hormone). I've noted that some kinds of energy work on the brain can trigger manic episodes in people with bipolar or schizoaffective disorders, so I tend to avoid running energy into the brain when someone with one of these conditions is in an unstable state. Running energy into the adrenals, on the other hand, has resulted in individuals who had been showing signs of heading for a psychotic episode calming right down and regaining their mental equilibrium Hope this helps. I know from family experience this can be a tough situation. Thank you for replying to my message regarding nephew in Omaha, Nebraska. Mike is about 40 yrs old and think he has had this challenge since about 25 years of age. He had suffered with abuse from a stepfather...believe sexual abuse...as a child. Mike is about 6 foot tall and basically a kind person. He does no counselling nor treatments at this time. Thanks for sending healing love to Mike. Janmg |

Alfred, Thank you for your interest and explanation of the challenge Mike has. I'll try the energy sending in areas you suggested. Also will try to communicate with Mike's sister by email and see if she can notice the changes for good that will take place in Mike, family, etc. I thought perhaps when he was jailed for starting a fight, he may get counselling or whatever. Guess he did not. It seems like the whole family gets sort of paralyzed up ther in Omaha and doesn't know what to do to help him. Thanks again for your input. Blessings to you. Janmg |

Alfred: Thank you for your input, my Grandmother is Schizoaffective. It seems you know quite a bit about the disorder and I will take your advice to heart and try the adrenal glands. Out of curiosity, Darlene is on alot of anti-psychotics 1750mg of Depakote daily and an enourmouse amount of Serouquel. What might happen if the QT really helps and the meds are too much, I feel at this time they have her so loaded it is hard to tell what is really going on with her. Though I have noticed the QT has enabled her to remain sain through the holidays, I can see the difference in her behavior, though NO doctor around here is going to listen and/or remove her from any of the meds. Any suggenstions?

Hello Karma:
I am not a medical professional, and while I did a lot of medical case management of clients on psychiatric meds, that doesn't qualify me to give you advice on this topic. Here, however, is how I would approach your situation: You would need to find a qualified MD willing to work with you on the meds. If I were you, I would ask to for a very cautious tappering schedule under a psychiatrist's care (osteopath psychiatrists may be more open to cooperating with certified alternative and holistic practitioners), and I would only taper down in the smallest increments once every 1-3 months to give plenty of time to monitor her mental state. You would need to build a very good list of signs to watch for (general and unique to your grandmother) to know when she may be improving or showing early-to-intermediate signs of relapsing. Medication compliance would need to be absolute in order to accomplish a successful tapering down of these kinds of meds. The documentation would also need to be copious (documenting med compliance, her mental status and behaviors). Diet and nutrition should also be an integral part of the plan. Supplementation of vitamins and minerals (avoid herbal remedies which could interfere with the medication: the US medical and pharmaceutical professions have very little information about herbal medicines' interaction with prescription drugs!) could be helpful, particularly Omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin E and B-complex vitamins. Get the psychiatrist's and pharmacist's approval for any supplements, detailing precisely what supplements she is getting (brand, dose and schedule), as some nutrients also effect medication potency and effectiveness. Doing all this will not only give the professionals important information, but also a sense of confidence and security that s/he can monitor the situation adequately by reading the notes. (psychiatrists usually don't see their patients more than once a month for 10 or so minutes!) I would also recommend against asking the psychiatrist about tappering any more than one medication at a time (probably the seroquel would be the easiest to get a doctor to consider tappering first: depakote is tricky to monitor, and the consequences of going even a little too low are much more likely to be severe) Lastly, I'd recommend your QT treatments be as regular as her medication schedule, and that they increase in frequency & duration leading up to and including predictably stressful situations, events, or anniversaries. During the week leading up to and including a full moon, solstice or equinox, you might want to ease up on duration of sessions and only focus on the adrenals (the mentally ill, again like psychics and intuitives, tend to be more sensitive to environmental and astronomical energies, but in a way which can be destabilizing to their mental and emotional equilibrium). Any kind of stress (physical, emotional, intellectual, environmental) puts people with these kinds of mental illnesses at higher risk, so also avoid tapering down an increment just before or during stressful times/events. Remember that each tapering increment can be a slightly stressful event in and of itself. I hope this helps you consider your options and support your grandmother. Many blessings to you and your family in your challenging journey. Alfred This message has been edited. The messages about schizophrenia are quite interesting. My son has a mood disorder or call it what you want. He has been on meds. I've tried alternative meds with him. He is just 16 now. I'd like to develop his sixth sense so that he can use that to handle his other issues. I am psychic myself and I know it can work this way. wish I could help my son in houston.

Hello:
For people with psychotic or bipolar disorders, I would emphasize helping the individual to get energetically and physically grounded into the body and lower energy centers first and foremost. In the case of something like depression without any manic or hypomanic episodes, straight QT with the regular protocol (skeletal balancing and "where do you feel the depression in your body") adding QT on the cranial sutures, into the brain and all of the endocrine glands and immunolymphatic system may do wonders. I agree about running energy to ground oneself. I forgot to say that! There is a string somewhere in the forum about self-running energy for mental and emotional illnesses, and I believe reports of good results. I'd probably avoid trying to send the energy specific places (other than adrenals) and just let it run with hands cupped: remember that grounding is the main goal, and healing can best take place in that context. Running energy into the brain can be very "ungrounding," and if there is a mood stability disorder, people with this issue tend to feel and believe hypomania and mania feels right and good (like an addictive high), which is not a good thing! More suicides take place during a hypomanic or manic state or after crashing from one with this group of people who suffer with mood instability.
So, I'd keep it simple: the brain should get what it needs just by running energy qt-style without an agenda to "Stoke energy" into it. I'd only add that that true diaphragmatic breathing and hemisphere balancing exercises like alternate nostril breathing and from "Touch for Health Synthesis" (see http://www.lovinglife.com ) may also prove useful. Thanks all, Alfred, Creative Jan , and Kweden for the great suggestions. I will try those techniques mentioned with Stevin. I went to the web site for the spirals and pictures. the only two I felt drawn to were the Door to Heaven and the one in Mauve. There is a place here in Texas that does what they call sweat lodge work originated by the Native Americans. I felt drawn to that, however, they use peyote in their work and I've heard that even though it's beneficial for some it can also be harmful.
I suppose it is like anything else, it works for some. If anyone has more knowledge about the sweat lodge work, E-mail me. I would still be inclined to try it. Thank everyone for assistance you have given me on this journey. Donice |

Most sweat lodge (Inipi) ceremonies do not use peyote...in fact I have never seen that nor heard of it being done. It's possible, I suppose but not the norm. Peyote is used in the Native American Church rituals, which is something altogether different. Talking with an Elder and asking for help may be something for you to look into. Warmest regards,

Maybe you could tell me if the purpose of the sweat lodge ceremony and what I'm trying to achieve for grounding would match. I've researched it a little bit. It seems that this is the only spiritual modality I've found that addresses the out of body experiences that I have and how to control it along with the mental and emotional problems that are associated with it. The problem is trying to ward off the dark side.... What I'm trying to say is I rather not go outside of my body unless I can control it. It seems to run in the family. I know other people who experience the same thing but we can't help each other because we are not knowledgeable enough about what is happening. I wish I knew other people who could understand this experience/condition and what to do about it or how to control it.

Inipi or sweat lodge is a beautiful ceremony of healing, rebirth, cleansing, and renewal. You can read much about it on the net, or read about Lakota spirituality, for one. (many tribes do sweats)
After you do a bit of research and homework, you may want to talk with a Native American elder or leader. It is always nice to make an appointment, come with humility, respect, and a good heart, and offer the gift of tobacco and/or food, for their time is valuable and their wisdom is very large. Then, LISTEN. The rewards are wonderful. Mitakuye Oyasin. Alice H. Practitioner and Instructor http://healinghandsminnesota.com Turn your face to the sun -- The shadows fall behind.
