Hello,
I have a query about QT, cranial bone movement and helping oneself. Having read several threads on cranial bone movement on this site, I decided to visit a QT practitioner to see if she could restore my skull to a more normal shape. It is flattened in places and my facial bones are slightly assymetric. I don't know whether this is positional, due to a difficult birth, or if my sutures closed too soon. I have no way of finding out. Anyway, the practitioner seemed highly skeptical that QT could help, to the point that I felt like an idiot for even asking. The session did nothing for me, except to relieve me of cash I could not afford to part with for such a non-result. My question is: if QT works on normalising skull shape, is it possible to work on myself? And if so, are there any special techniques I could use? I have the basic QT book and am starting to learn how to do it. Having lost my job, I just cannot afford repeated trips to a practitioner and would be able to give myself more time and attention than a practitioner would. Thank you. Kaleidoscope |

sure, why not? QT is great for realigning bones. You might post your request on healing requests, as more people will see it and help out. Many more people offer QT than write out a post - they're nicknamed silent angels. So just know that many are sending.
Craniosacral therapy and myofascial release are also very handy for balancing skull bones, btw. Holly |

Hi Kaleidoscope and welcome to the fambly.
First, I guess there are as many approaches and attitudes about QT as there are practitioners but I'm surprised that a practitioner expressed skepticism that QT would have any affect (or is it effect??) on the cranium. My husband Rick and I do it all the time! Then there is the fact that we are encouraged to remain open to what is possible with QT. Stick around here for a while and you will hear it said often . . . "This work knows no limits." Next I will say that yes, I believe QT can help with and that you can do that yourself. How do you know that you skull is not its normal shape? I mean, just because it doesn't look like your brothers, or mine, who's to say that it is NOT normal for YOU?? Anyway, if I were you I would: 1) learn QT from the book and practice it diligently. 2) See how many folks you could get together that would also like to learn and if possible share the cost of buying a video workshop. 3) Put a request right here on the "Healing Request" Forum for others to help you. That is if you're comfortable asking for assistance. I admire your persistence and encourage you to remain open to the possibilities while staying unattached to the outcome. Now there's a challenge for you. Best to you, Chrissie Blessings, Love and Laughter, and Big Warm Hugs, Chrissie |

I always marvelled at the shape of Michael Jordan's skull. Not very many people have a skull that can look that good when it's bare!
I agree that you should try to find a person (more if possible, but one is good) that wants to learn with you. That way ya'll can do each other. I went to a craniosacral therapist a couple years ago. It was so strange. I couldn't figure out WHAT he was doing, except it seemed like he was barely touching me. But great DAY that made a huge difference in my life. It changed a lot of things that I was not expecting to be changed, and I was very grateful I had gone. I want to go again soon. They do work on your cranial sutures, but they do so much more! I know that QT aligns bones, so I do that to my skull sometimes, hoping it will do the same thing the CST does. But whatever happens with QT, it's the best thing for your body. Your body intelligence directs the energy where it wants it to go. And even though you are directly working on a certain area, that does not mean the energy will wind up there. My teacher did a girl's ankle once, she had hurt it. And she wound up feeling the energy in a tooth. When he asked her about it, he found that she had been having problems with it. So even though he and the girl thought he was to work on the ankle, the body decided the tooth was in more need. I'm telling you that just in case you try to work on your skull, and it turns out the energy actually travels to a different area. Just know your body sends it where it will do the most good. It is a great idea to buy the tape. I had read the book before I had my class, where the tape was shown. The tape is very helpful! Especially if you're by yourself, and can't figure out if you're ''doing things right!'' |

Hi Kaleidoscope,
I posted about one of my experiences before at a workshop with a woman who had one eye higher than the other and the result was that her eyes became even. I have also worked successfully with my son, who was born with sagittal synastosis and who after surgery to normalise his skull shape due to fused plates, still had a bulbous looking forhead ( they did not operate on that) it was bulbous because brain had pushed it outwards when it could not grow sideways. My son is very receptive to energy and works well with it and I had recently done the Core 1 workshop when it occurred to me to try out the techniques on him - to my surprise the bones moved easily - literally in minutes. I called my husband to look at him and asked him if he could see any difference (without telling him what I had done) and he said straight away, his forehead is different and told me to do more - pointing out asymmetry etc and I did and it worked well. After that his teacher and our friends spontaneously commented too that his head was a different shape, so yes, it can be done. May I know where you are located please? Love and light, Donna |

Dear Holly, Tweasel Oak, Chrissie and Donna,
Thank you all for replying to me so quickly and with such great ideas. It's very encouraging to know there are people out there who have had practical success in visibly moving cranial bones with energy. Holly, thank you for the tip about healing requests, craniosacral work and myofascial release. Craniosacral didn't work for me, unfortunately, but I'll definitely look into myofascial release and post a healing request. I seem to remember someone on this board using myofascial release to bring a horse's face into alignment and it worked very well :-) Thank you for welcoming me, Chrissie :-) It's a great idea to buy a video workshop. I am a visual learner, so seeing what I'm supposed to be doing might be easier for me than the book (which I already have). And diligent practice is so important. I know what you mean about remaining open to the possibilities while staying unattached to the outcome. That is the real toughie :-) Tweasel Oak, thank you for reminding me that the energy goes where it will. As far as I'm concerned my head is the most important thing (I suffer from lots of headaches and migraines too) but perhaps my body was taking the practitioner's energy and directing it elsewhere without my knowledge... I hadn't thought of that. I just thought QT hadn't worked. Donna, your stories of aligning the lady's eye and even more so your son's skull are just amazing! I suspect I may have some sort of synastosis that has rendered my skull too flat at the back, too high at the front and my face slightly wider on one side but it might be due to a difficult birth - I just don't know. It is really heartening to know that it can be changed (at least, I hope it can in an adult as well as in a child?). I'm located in the Republic of Ireland. Thank you. With warm wishes, Kaleidoscope |

One other thought. You mentioned that QT and craniosacral didn't work for you, but keep in mind that your result could be the outcome of that particular practitioner or moment in time! Imagine saying "I tried doctoring once and it didn't work" and you'll see what I am meaning. In addition, perhaps the energy of those 2 events went to heal some underlying, unseen situation first? Now you might 'get somewhere' with your quest.

Hi Holly,
Yes, that's a good point. Maybe the energy was going elsewhere, especially when I was having QT. It's quite possible. I visited a craniosacral therapist a good few times but it didn't change the shape of my head or make me feel any different. I know it works for some people; my niece, for example, felt a lot better when she had it, though her reason for going was different to mine. My final disillusionment with craniosacral therapy came when my practitioner, who was very experienced, treated me while I was in the throes of a severe migraine attack and it did nothing to dispel the pain, in spite of the fact that he very kindly went over time. After that, I felt craniosacral was not for me because I couldn't imagine that anything in my body was more urgent than the disturbance of migraine, yet the therapy wasn't touching it on any level (pain, nausea, vomiting, etc.). As you say, healing can depend on all sorts of things and I do feel my dedication to learning QT and practice over time will pay off. That's why I want to learn how to treat myself. I hope this time I will get somewhere with my quest, yes :-) Many thanks for getting back to me. Much appreciated. Kaleidoscope |

You just reminded me of MY migraine story! (This was years and years before I found QT!) I had a chiropractor appt once, and I actually had a migraine when I went, for the first time ever (usually it was back pain)! I told him I had the migraine, and he did something different to me, and the headache went away in about a half a minute, and I was just amazed. Then when I had gotten in the car and left, it came back about 10 minutes later!!!
One morning I woke up and a migraine was coming on. I did EFT, and the headache went away, and did not come back, and I was able to go to work and actually be totally productive; felt great all day! (If you don't know EFT, I learned it from youtube, with Rebecca Marina. She made it very easy!) One day at work I started getting a migraine, and remembered that amethysts were supposed to take headaches away. I sat down on a box in the file room where I was, and rubbed my temples with an amethyst crystal (that I HAPPENED to be wearing) for about 3-4 minutes. The headache went away. It came back about a half an hour later, and I rubbed my temples for about 2 minutes. It then went away and did not come back! OK, those are my headache stories! When I went for CST, I went with no expectations at all. Actually, my daughter has fibromyalgia, and I went as a guinea pig to see if I thought it would help her. I had a 90 minute session, and these are the differences I noticed right away 1. When I went to bed, noticed my breathing was MUCH deeper and easier. (Felt like a different person breathing through me!!!) 2. I only got up once in the night to go to the bathroom; I had always before that gotten up 3-5 times a night (SOMETIMES 2, but usually 3 or more). That change has lasted two years! 3. The next morning I turned my neck to look at something; I hadn't done that in YEARS! These are all little things, and I wasn't expecting ANY of them. It was just amazing to me! I went in and had 2 more hour treatments in the next week. I didn't notice any difference in my back (I've had a bad lower back since I was 20). HOWEVER!!! About 2-3 months later, I noticed all of a sudden out of the blue, that my back pain was COMPLETELY gone. It no longer hurt me at all to walk to the copy machine, etc. Then it hit me how even when my back was NOT hurting, it was ALWAYS tight and READY to start at the least reason. It's like it was in suspended animation just READY to go! I had never known prior to that that my back was ALWAYS tensed, and was in a certain amount of pain. That DID wear off, after a year and a half of not going back for any more treatments. I really want to go again. Had I not been open for anything, and only wanting treatment for my back (well, of course I DID want treatment for my back), I never would have noticed all the other great things that the CST did for me. (And by the way! I RAVED about the CST to my daughter, and begged her to try it, and she wouldn't! She said acupuncture didn't work for her, and she wasn't trying anything else!) (Oh well! At least I sleep better now!!!!!) It DOES sound like QT could be just the thing for your head. Let us know how it goes! |

Hi tweasel oak,
It's very interesting you should mention EFT. EFT has come up for me a few times lately and I was considering visiting a practitioner to learn how to do it. I have the emofree handbook but find it easier to learn things visually, so I'll check out Rebecca Marina's YouTube presentation. Many thanks for that idea :-) Your chiropractor story is interesting too. It's so weird the way headaches and migraines come and go like that. Sometimes, when I have a really bad attack, it feels like it has disappeared for a few moments; then it reappears with full force. Grrrr....! I wear an amethyst ring (always) and have tried that one! Maybe I didn't rub my head for long enough (I have a seriously impatient streak, which does me no good!) but it didn't work. I'll try it again, though. For longer, next time :-) I think a major thing I'm learning here is how the body uses healing modalities for its own endes, even if those ends are other than the condition for which we originally seek help. Your experience with CST is amazing. I know my niece loved it and my sister was impressed with it. It's cool the benefits remained with you for so long, even though you had not gone back for a treatment in a year and a half, and that there was a delayed reaction with your back pain but that it did actually improve. Yeah, just from what you and Holly have both said, I'm thinking I need to persist, rather than giving up at the first hurdle. I have a tendency to think something is useless if it doesn't work straight off but that isn't necessarily true. And if they body is syphoning off the QT (or whatever) energy to heal something I can neither see nor feel, then that suggests I need to keep going with the treatment I choose for an appreciable length of time before judging it one way or the other. Funny, acupuncture didn't work for me for migraine but it instantly got rid of tension in my shoulders. I agree that QT could be just the thing for my head and I'm going to be really persistent with it now. Thank you for such an interesting and informative and hopeful :-) reply. It's great to hear other people's experiences. Much appreciated :-) Kaleidoscope |

Here's the link I used:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...next_from=PL&index=4 It's very easy the way she teaches it. I'm also like you, in that I want to see proof of something right away. I guess because there are SO many different things around, that I don't want to be pursuing something that's a wild goose chase. Don't have time or money for that. So now I'm trying to go more for things I see concrete proof of. Like in the basic class, the wine test. That was totally clear concrete proof. I had been thinking I was not getting it (mainly because I can't see or feel the energy), but the wine test totally convinced me about QT. That also was what convinced me the energy is really there, and it's really going somewhere. |
