It has been awhile since I've been on this board. I basically had to quit QT because it seemed to cause such tremendous pain in my body. I recently have found out why... My house has so much mold that when I would deeply breathe in, well, I was just taking in a tremendous amount of mold spores and mycotoxins. If you look into this, you'll see why this is so bad. And it also explains why I've had so many kitties die such horrible deaths since I've lived in this house. I am in the process of getting rid of my house and putting a new one on my basement (which will be stripped down to nothing, thorougly killed and sealed). This is going to be a huge financial loss to me, but it's nothing compared to the pain and suffering that all of us have gone through these past 10 years.

The number of diseases that are attributed to mold and mycotoxins is phenomenal. I urge everyone to thoroughly check their houses if they are constantly getting sick. Mold does not have to be visible to affect you. Trust me on this.

Many hugs,

DebbieB

Debbie, Welcome back! I'm sorry to hear about the mold problems, but I know that it's horrible stuff & causes so many problems. At least you know it wasn't QT energy causing your distress. Good luck on the reconstruction. You and your kitties will feel so much better.

Much love to you.

Thanks, Alice! I have spent countless hours feeling like I was simply going to slip away... between feeling like I was in an oven or feeling like I was in a deep freeze (with a 2 point sub-normal temperature, btw). Or both at the same time (now that's an interesting feeling). I had gotten to the point of wondering how all these people around me got so much done when I barely had the energy to get off the sofa in the evening... Right now with the warming temperatures, my lungs and bronchial tubes seem to be burning. I have to take one of my kitties in today for shots for stomatitis, which isn't really stomatitis, but a symptom of this mold... I've also had the corneal ulcers brought about from one particular type of mold. Not to mention the "brain fog". And everyone who has been on this board for awhile knows that I've lost about six of my sweet babies to cancer (another mold induced disease).

But there's a brighter day coming! If we can all make it to it...

And thank you for your well wishes!

Hugs,

DebbieB

Glad you are feeling better! May it continue!
(((((((((DebbieB and furry ones))))))))

btw, the folks at the yahoo list silverpets have had a lot of luck nebulizing home-made colloidal silver for rabbits and kitties. Apparently rabbits are extra fragile when it comes to respiratory things. Perhaps it might help your little kitties? Lots of info and support there.

Thanks, Holly! At least I'm feeling better mentally, knowing that this will all be ending soon! Not sure I'll know how to act when I feel alive again! LOL!

Can you give me the url for the yahoo list silverpets? I'm not familiar with them...

Thanks again and hugs,

DebbieB

Hi DebbieB,
Wow, thank you for posting about this, as mold is a real issue here in the damp, stoney British Isles!

The house I grew up in in New Jersey was VERY, VERY moldy, and when my nephew and brother were tearing down and replacing the rotten drywall a few years ago, my brother Bill (whom I've written about in the Healing Request forum) ended up with a long-term mold infection in his lungs that was undiagnosed for two years. I believe this lead to his contracting pulmonary fibrosis (scarred, mostly useless lungs) and needing a lung transplant.

My other brother Ernest recently died of complications of metastatic lung cancer, and I think mold played a role in his illness too.

My oldest brother has had asthma since his mid-twenties, and while he didn't grow up in the same house I did, it does seem conspicuous that he should have a lung condition when two of his brothers have had life-threatening ones probably related to mold (he couldn't be in the house I grew up in until the cinderblocks of the house were treated and sealed and every piece of drywall in the house replaced.

Again, thank you for sharing this important message about toxic mold!

Blessings,

Alfred

Debbie B,
One small thing to help you a bit.

For the brain fog (I wander from wall to wall, or fall down the stairs when I get brain fog, not fun.)

Carry with you at all times that you possibly can a nice ripe lemon that you have rolled between your hands or something to burst the juice pods without releasing them from the lemon. When you feel you have rolled enough, bite off the blossom end of the lemon and suck the juice out. Go completely through one lemon, before you begin on the others.
It clears your mind. and I don't know why. Got this from other allergics at the clinic years ago, and still use it.

I have found that when I suck the thing dry, that eating the membranes inside the lemon helps even further by stopping quite a bit of the bruising brought on by walking in walls, and tumbling down the stairs.

From one to another, lots of luck and healing.

Alfred - This is off topic for this thread, but I can't find the mention of your brother Ernest beyond last fall. I just wanted to express my condolences to you. I was so sorry to hear he passed on.

Alfred, so sorry to hear about your brothers. And yes, from what I've read, the mold was probably the cause of your brothers' problems. I now believe this is what started my father's lung cancer, too. His tub cracked and even though he believed he repaired it, I think the leaks continued, because his health really began to decline after this happened. Mold just looks so benign for all the destruction it can do.

But its main purpose is to decompose everything and consume it, which it does quietly and methodically.

Zen, thanks for the lemon trick! I'll try that. I bought a lemon tree from Logee's and it now has two ripe lemons on it.

Thanks, Holly, for the url! Will go there and check it out. Have been drinking borax water, which helps some, but the warming weather is sending the mold into growth and the fruiting cycle.

Many hugs,

DebbieB

Another thing I've read of a lot is the use of ozone and ozonated water to get rid of mold.

It is generally felt that you should NOT breathe in ozone, so you'd seal off an area or room and run the ozone into it. I don't know how long it would take, but it might be well worth looking into. The ozone doesn't last or leave residue like chemical mold killers.

I use a Neotec air ionizer that picks up particles in the air (great for clearing woodstove smoke) and produces a small amount of ozone. I sometimes will leave it running in a basement room and it seems to clear and freshen the air. The musty smell (mold and mildew I presume) departs.

An old file I have saved mentions using ozone at 1.5 mg/l to 2 mg/l for ridding Aspergillus Niger; this says 1 mg/l equals 1 PPM. The file comes from
http://www.ozoneapplications.com/applications.htm in case you are interested.

Ok, sending QT also to help you feel better.
Holly
