Healers and psychics in the UK and Europe may not be able to practice unless they can prove that what they are doing works. The aim of the new legislation is to clamp down on fraudulent practitioners, but in reality it could prevent the genuine practitioners from working.

I think we need to send some healing to this situation!!!

In Love and light,
Debbie

It certainly helps to imagine what it is we want in this case. A situation where a practitioner must prove the value of the work would be most unfortunate.

The funny thing is, every human being has an intuition, and has a physiologically and biologically inherent healing ability. The only difference is that there are those who practice this in the general public arena, and those who aren't aware of it.
I suppose if this did come to fruition, every human on the planet would have to be tested for the principle to stand. Wink
I don't see this going anywhere, personally...so many skeptics and advocates against this line of work have tried and failed, several hundred times throughout history, to instigate some type of "ban" or "test" or "limitations" on those who practice this work.
In short, I don't allow this notion into my experience, or into the experience of those like me. Wink

Much love,

Hi Debbie

Ros here, QT Instructor from South Yorkshire.

As A QT Instructor and Reiki Master/Teacher using healing as a basis for a business,
I got a little worried reading your posting, until I read the article you referred to.

The Act in question refers specifically to Psychics and Spiritual Healers, and I don't think that QT or Reiki comes under that heading.

I certainly do not believe that I am a channel for Spirit when doing either modality, but more a channel for the life force energy, which CAN be proved scientifically, and which has been around in all ancient civilisations under different names (chi, prana, etc) for thousands of years.

On top of that I agree with other comments - that it would be virtually impossible to "police" this policy. The powers that be have been trying for years to get Reiki covered by legislation to no avail.

OK ... I've talked myself into stopping worrying now!!!

Love and light,
Ros

Thanks Ros, its a good point. I suppose we wont know how the legislation will be used until we see it affect people, and I hope that you're right!

I also posted this on the healing requests section, so that more people would notice it, and Alfred advised that a money back guarantee would be an effective way to protect yourself.

In Love and Light,
Debbie

Hi Ros and Debbie,
Actually, the new EU legislation is a generic consumer protection act, and is NOT specific to spiritual healing, mediums, and psychics (see my response to Debbie's post in the Healing Requests forum). It will apply to anyone selling goods or services of any kind, so yes energy healing and other alternative health practitioners will be included.

Beyond the guaranteed refund to dissatisfied customers, there are two accepted "scientific" measure we can turn to to show we are not deceiving anyone (either deliberately or in ignorance): a body of documented results beyond the placebo effect which correspond to the periods at, between, and and after energy healing sessions which can't be explained by medical intervention.

Of course, this will take time and money and release of information permission from clients.
On top of that, I imagine the insurance cover for alternative health practices (hypnosis, energy psychology, naturopathy, etc) will go up significantly according to revised actuarial tables. Drat!

Well, in truth, I plan to market what I do as relaxation, stress relief, and self-help techniques to support emotional well being and the body's natural self-healing ability anyways. So there! Razzer

Healing Blessings (honest! Wink)

Hi everyone,
Alfred, idea behind this so called «protection» of consumers is to put whole «alternative» healing methods out of law – which also means to prevent anyone from practicing it since doing it legally requires so much administrative efforts which make it almost impossible and thus illegal.
This also means that there is a firm believes that any type of healing is impossible, and when anyone claims that this is so is in fact in delusion – which legally means deceived.

In Serbia, for instance, only people which finished university in medical sciences!?! are allowed do practice any type of alternative health methods of any kind. Guess what happened when that law was acepted.

I wonder how the area of counseling and coaching is described in legislation.
Does counselor have to prove that his client accepted his counseling for his own good in any type of business?

This also implies that anyone is guilty in advance and has to prove!!! that there is no intention is not deceive anyone consciously or in ignorance. Any criminal law ask to prove person is guilty (as charged) and not asking to prove innocence (since it is presumed to be so).

I agree that we have to hold positive intention for solving this situation, but that doesn't mean we have to be oysters, closing our eyes from anything we dislike.

There is a question which needs to be addressed:
How do we want energy healings to be present and accepted in public?
What we have to do and how to be so that people truly know and understand that everyone is a healer and that the source of life force is unlimited?

With Love
Jelena
