Sometimes I find it hard to make it practical to folks who've never heard of energy therapy.

The idea of healing via energy is so far away from some peoples imagination/consciousness that if you don't make it practical it goes straight over their heads.

So what do you say?
I'm looking for several practical descriptions as well.

what i do currently, is that if I know they have some problem, I'd tell them i've learnt something new and show them the website, then ask if they'd like my help. I've had some yes, some no. Same with my mum, let her read the book, and after reading it, she's been very accepting of QT. She did tell me that if she did not read the book, she would think I am doing some 'weirdo' stuff I think the book puts in very nicely and practically, but I would like to also know how to convince or at least get someone to just have a 'maybe' in their head and not a 'NO', in just five minutes as not everyone is willing to read a book like my mum..

I tell them that Quantum-Touch is an energy healing method. Practitioners use breathing and body awareness techniques to draw life force energy through their body and offer it to the client. This life force energy jumpstarts the client's own natural healing ability and the body heals itself.

At that point, either people get it, don't want to hear anymore, or they ask questions.

This is a problem for me too, although I think I cause allot of the problem myself by assuming a conversation about 'energy healing' is going to go badly from the outset. It's got more to do with my own inner attitude than the exact phrase I use.

I am so amazed at some folks reactions when I suggest QT. If you have some condition that standard medicine hasn't helped, even if you don't believe QT can work what do you have to lose by having someone put their hands on or near you and watch them do some strange breathing? I believe that there is an undercurrent of fearful superstition running through most folks minds that makes them reject anything that appears weird or unusual.

I tailor my explanation depending on the person. I have found with most people what I like to call the physics/yoga breathing explanation. Something like this....

As we know from physics, everything in the universe is just wave energy. Nothing is really solid. (wait for the nod) So basically, with some concentrated effort and breathing like in yoga (eye contact to see if they follow), I can pull this energy from around us, through my body and concentrate a strong field of it between my hands. I place my hands over the part of the body you want to work on and because your body is just energy too, it responds. (smile) It says, "Hey! There is that extra energy I need to fix ......" And so, it goes about fixing that problem. Unfortunately, a lot of what we do daily drains our natural energy allowing these problems in the first place. This is just an energy booster. It's really cool! When do you want to give it a try?

Of course, for other people, I just tell them I love them and that I am going to breathe on them while hugging varous parts of their body so that they and I will feel better. My grandma just laughed and said' "Well, go ahead, honey, but I don't see how that will help my torn shoulder."

I also have accepted that I can only help those people I am meant to help. This means I am not getting to my 60 hours as fast as I would like but so be it.

Yes, I think that's a common thread in people. We are mostly taught to mistrust things we do not understand. The original settlers of North America also brought with them a fairly rigid view of the world, and that is the basis of the non-indigenous cultures there. It makes for an interesting study.
