I worked with Chakra balancing, at a time when almost nobody in this country knew what a chakra was, incl me!
I practiced seeing the 7 major chakras as spinning globes but when I learnt about the over-head ones I found it easier and delightful to see them as colored fields.
You might start to practice that way. As Alian says, "Let it come to you", just Watch!
This list may be helpful. Most books give 12 in all. This list is close to what I have experienced. I think the extra colors maybe gradations. If you see a different color on any level,
do go by your OWN perception.

1/ red 2/ orange 3/yellow 4/ emeral green 5/ blue
6/ indigo 7/ light purple 8/ below feet brown 9/arm length above head - magenta 10/ violet 11/ silver 12/ copper
13/ gold 14/ pink 15 torquise 16/ white Overall Clear
Let yourself and your perception just float up the gradations.

Once I saw ALL the colors coalesing in bands round a spinning globe.
