I have been asked to run some QT on a woman who wants to start labor. It is time for her to deliver so there is no danger of an early baby. Has anyone ever done anything like this before? I am not sure how I feel about it. WHat are your thoughts?

I would certainly give it a try, though I haven't tried doing it to induce labor. The energy will work on what it needs to according to the bodies intelligence.

Let us know the results.

As a nurse, I can't advocate inducing labor unless one is post-term, or there is an indication of fetal distress. The body will go into labor when it is time. Giving a patient Quantum-Touch is done to the highest good of the client. Whether that induces labor is up to the body.

JoAnne,

I too am a nurse and would not consider doing something like this if she were not at her due date. I have been running energy on her daily with no labor. As I explained to her-QT isn't going to "make " her go into labor unless it is time. What it is doing is bringing her a great deal of relief for her back pain.

My wife who is a nurse and I went to Montreal Canada to assist my sister and her husband in their first baby delivery. Her doctor based on a due date exam found she was about a half cm dilated and set an ultimatum that the baby should come within the next ten days or the delivery would be artificially induced on an arranged day. This is contrary to natural childbirth philosophy but it was the parent's decision to go tradition.

The days went by and she never went in to contractions so she had to go in for induced labor. We contemplated trying to do QT for her a day or two before inducement date but mother did not desire this because it was a 3-day weekend and her chosen doctor would not be available if she gave birth. An hour before she had to go in we started did QT & a little accupressure on points that induce labor and assist childbirth . (See http://home.clear.net.nz/pages/debra_betts/) Our highest hopes were that she would not have to have any medication and the delivery be an easy low pain birth.

We went to the hospital and we were now on "doctor" time. The doctor examined her and found her about a cm dilated then broke her water. Mild contractions began. For the next hour the doctor monitored her contractions then began induce her with low levels of Pitocin to speed up the contraction. After about an additional hour of monitoring and stepping up the Pitocin a bit the doctor was satisfied and she left the hospital saying she expected the mother would be ready to go in 6-10 hours. All this time we continued with QT. Well in the next forty minutes the contractions ramped up and the mother started complaining of intense pain. She was in such intense pain that she gave in and asked for epidural. The attending nurse came to check and gasp saying "Your are ready". Turns out she had fully dilated. From what we learned a mother who is fully dilated and not pushing is a formula pain. So the doctor was paged and when she returned they had the baby out within the next hour. The baby came out looking bright eye and extremely calm and alert. I estimate from the time the doctor broke water to birth was less than four hours.

In summary the mother had no complication and had to have only low levels of Pictocin. While she had intense pain for a brief time no epidural was necessary once she began pushing.

I used reiki/QT on an expectant mother on the morning of the day she was supposed to go to the hospital to be induced. She was due to go in at 4:00, and I started reiki/QT at 11:30. We did two twenty-minute sessions. At one point during the first session things got very intense, with a lot of energy running, and suddenly her belly dropped (apparently the belly drops as the baby settles into the pelvis -- one of the first signs of labour). During the second session things got intense once again, and then her belly got as hard as a watermelon, and she had her first contraction.
By the time she left at two, she was having mild contractions, by the time she got to the hospital, the contractions were more frequent, and she was 1 cm dilated.

And guess what? They induced her anyway, because it was Friday, and the doctor did not want to wait. She went into brutal labour at midnight, had an epidural, started having something awful called catatonic contractions, the baby went into distress, and she had a caesarean at 7:30 in the morning.

Ah, modern medicine.

Cheers,
Judith

Just an update on my gal that asked me to help start her labor. She has been having irregular contractions for several days-except when I am running energy with her, then she had strong regular contractions. She went into the hospital this morning dilated at 4cm. I basically ran energy All day on her and she progressed rapidly and got good pain relief. Mom and baby are both fine. Smiler I think QT is a very effective tool for labor/birth.

I have had good success in working with pregnant moms......one gal needed her baby turned so that his neck was not laying against the umbilical cord......the QT energy turned that baby around from a left 9:00 position to the right all the way to 5:00 I stopped running energy at that point because head straight down might have started something I was unprepared to finish....baby was not due for two weeks........

Am going to work on my friend Ginger whose baby is due now....will let you know results- I am excited about it-Ginger is a Reiki practitioner so she is particularly fun to work with....

Send energy if you feel compelled...I am working on her at 10:45 EST-

I will let you know how it goes....
