Hi All who wander this way~ In addition to my massage and energy therapy work (working on my 60 hours now) I do freelance research and writing. I have an assignment to write an article on QT for the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) magazine. I would like to collect some specific hands-on information/anecdotes to round it out and finish the article this week.
If anyone is a bodyworker and combines it with QT I would love to hear how you do it, advantages, results, etc. If I can quote you on anything please put that in quotation marks and tell me by what name or title I should refer to you (actual name, or a massage therapist...for example). You can respond to me privately or via this chat thread. I am also sending an email to the QT office asking how I might contact and ask some specific questions of Richard and Alain on QT's original development and subsequent enrichment. If either, or both, of you see this first and would like to open a dialogue with me please do feel free. Most gratefully spreading the word, Barbara Louisa |

Hello, Barbara Louisa!
First of all, I want to share my gratitude with you for undertaking such an awesome piece of writing! What you're doing will greatly help QT, and bodywork, forge new friendships and a coexistence that can only mean well-being for all our clients. Thank you! I'm a bodyworker and soon-to-be certified QT practitioner myself. There's a few more of us here that combine both for our clients' healing requests. QuantumJedi (John from CO), ~*manda*~ (Amanda from KY, and one of my close friends), and others have previously discussed this very topic. I found QT as I was in the very early stages of going to massage school last year. I found that if I swept and breathed like we do with QT, the energy flowed regardless of how much I danced around the table and moved in rhythm with the clients' bodies. I've said before that since I started doing that, I just can't separate the two now! The only way I can separate them is if I've had a request for "just" energy work, and I have to sit still and quiet to allow the energy to flow. The Core Transformation work seems to take over in that scenario, and I often find my clients fast asleep and totally relaxed within 2-3 minutes of beginning a session! It's wonderful. Every breath I draw in while doing massage is a direct vortexing sweep upward, and every exhale is focused on allowing the energy to flow down and out my hands into the clients' bodies. There is never an empty breath, so to speak...it's all about the QT when I'm dancing with my clients. I had remarkable feedback while working in clinic doing this combination of massage and QT...I had 71 out of 71 clinic clients all give me high marks, along with positive feedback that made me realize I'd stumbled across something absolutely wonderful for them, and for me as a bodyworker. I don't think I can ever go back to just breathing when I need to...it's now always about the energy flowing for their well-being. I hope this helps you, and I'll encourage those I know who do the same thing to post here for you. Welcome to the "fambly." Love & Hugs! Ashley M. Hi Ashely and thank you for your swift response!
I will definitely use the info you sent. Very interesting it is as this is how QT interfaces with MT for me too. I found bringing the breath and energy up thru my body and out in different places was something I had learned a while ago in yoga (Kripalu), but with QT I can give it more specific focus for my clients. They do tend to fall asleep, some have called this QT/MT work gifted, one came back the next day and paid me more (very insistent and very grateful - I was very grateful too on a couple of levels). And, yes, if I do straight energy then I do tend to slide right into a meditative state, ajna or heart or gut focused, and I suspect it becomes as core transformation (tho I've not taken that course). Amazingly effective too. Also with straight energy work I almost prefer distant work for this reason. Do you find that too? Thank you also for telling your fellow bodywork/QT compadres about my posting! I do appreciate that. I am glad to join you. Oh, have you read the 2007 book, The Intention Experiment by Lynne McTaggart? Your library may have a copy. I'm finding it fascinating! bestest regards, Barbara |

Amazing! I LOVE that book! I have all her books to date, I bought them as soon as they were published. They've helped me tremendously, and I loan them out to clients and other practitioners on request.
I definitely agree with you about the distance work being preferred...once we realize there's really no "separation" between us and the recipients, the possibilities are endless, and the work seems to flow much more nicely. I've pm'd the people here that combine QT & MT, asking them to come give you feedback on your post. I know John has a new baby boy to look after, and Manda stays pretty busy...but they'll get to it as quickly as possible, I'm sure! Love & Hugs to you~ Ashley M. Hi Louisa,
I've often thought about submitting an article myself, but didn't. I'm thrilled that you are! What is your timeline? I'm heading out of town tomorrow, Nov 7-11. I've been an LMT since 1994 and QT instructor since 2005, so I'd be happy of offer some info/examples/opinions Are you looking for anything specific? I have case studies, one small group study, how I blend ... I don't get to the board too often (which I plan to change Suzanne |

Hello Ashley~ I am doing final stuff for my QT article and want to know if it is okay to quote you in what you said above, specifically the paragraph "every breath I draw..." How do you want to be credited? By first and last name? If so, what is your last name? Thank you very very much. The article should be out in the May/June issue of Massage and Bodywork. I would have sent this by PM but I sometimes have trouble logging in on the main screen -- but had no trouble doing so for this. sigh. Barbara Louise |

Hello, Barbara! I sent you a pm, but then noticed you'd replied here..lol!
You are more than welcome to quote me, although I'm just "me" at the present point in time (Ashley Henry), but I should have my license for massage, in hand, by the date the article prints. I will also be a certified QT practitioner by then, as my application is being processed right now. To be ethical, I know I can't be listed as an "LMT" or "QTP" right NOW, but considering the article won't be published until well after I receive those credentials, you may go ahead and list me as such, since they will both accompany my name by May/June of 2008. I'm humbled that you'd use my words! Thank you very much. And once again, a thousand thanks for getting QT into the ABMP's interest! This is going to be phenomenal! Much Love, Ashley Henry Ashley M. Digging deep to find out just where the heck I went...![]() |
I think this is wonderful, and I happen to get that magazine being an ABMP member! I get to read about my good friend Ashley.....
Barbara, if you are in need of any other material, I would be happy to contribute, but it sounds likely that you have everything you need. Good! But if you need another anecdotal story I have one posted on the QT Stories page that you can use with my permission: http://www.quantumtouch.com/index.php?p=stories&id=557341 I missed this post (and a few others as of late) because My 2nd son was born just a few days before your original post, so I was a little occupied at the time! I look forward to reading the article soon! John M. |

Hello John,
Glad to meet you. I have turned in what I think is the final article but if my editor wants more I'll be glad to use your example. Think I'll ask her right away...... Okay, I just emailed her. So we'll see. Thank you very much for your offer. This is awesome work and I am chomping at the bit to take it further in practice and in research (my form of treasure hunting) and in writing and other forms of illumination! I understand about the decent headshot. Yours and Ashley's both are great. I just applied for certification too. I also have to turn in a headshot to accompany this article. Not sunny here though and a flash just bounces light off my skin. State College is cloudier than Seattle! And without the benefits of a sizable body of water. Thanks again and please keep in touch. (I can't figure out how to PM) Are you in Chicago? Great Argentine Tango there! Slainte, Barbara Louisa |

Hi Louisa,
I am also an ABMP member (since 2004) and I've accumulated a few good stories about QT and would be happy to contribute if you need any more material. "There are no incurable diseases, only some incurable people." -- Dr. John R. Christopher |

thanks for your offer!! As of now the article is set but I have asked my editor if she would like some examples/stories of QT from massage therapists. If so, I'll be in touch!

Louisa,
I don't know if you've seen this post or not, but it's about a qt page on wikipedia and they need articles that have been documented and published and I thought the one you wrote for ABMP might qualify. Also, which issue of Massage and Bodywork will your article appear in, so I can keep an eye out for it? Thanks. http://quantumtouch.groupee.net/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3901071811/m/4421059991? Well, I received my May/June copy of Massage & Bodywork today. No article about QT.
Maybe it will show up in the July/August edition. |
