Well I ran energy for 40 minutes yesterday on my girlfiend's slipped disc - the pain moved a LOT during the session - got intense and eased throught the session - she said she felt a lot of heat and it was like it was being 'pulled' out of her back ... today she said it feels different and better :confused but she still has a fair amount of discomfort - so what are my next steps - keep doing the same I guess - how long can I expect this to take or is that an impossible question to answer???
Congratulations - you are making wonderful progress.
The body heals as fast as it will. Don't judge yourself or the process, just keep working, and often. As long as she feels heat and things moving, she is in a place of rapid recovery. Some conditions just naturally take longer than others to get well. Any ostoepath would probably be astounded at the progress she has already made.
Thanks Richard. Well the patient is doing well - had periods yesterday with no pain at all!!! I will do another couple of good sessions at the weekend - might even save her from the knife yet!!!!!
Continue with QT. As often and as long as changes occur. It is amazing how back problems can be healed. Most people don't realize the power of longer sessions repeated frequently. In our work with scoliosis we often do 1 hour or 90 minute sessions. Sometimes back problems clear up in 15 minutes, but if not, continue to run energy.
In a situation like this, is it advisable to have the client try to remain as inactive as they can? Maybe lay down for 24 hours to let the energy do what it will unhampered?
The idea is to reduce the inflammation and not aggravate the injury. But staying completely immobile for long periods of time is not a good idea either. It can cause the body to freeze up. Gentle movement which does not cause pain or inflammation is best. Drink water to rehydrate the body and rest, but if movement is possible, without pain and aggravation, then gentle movement is a good idea. You want to move lymph fluid through the body and the lymph system depends upon differential pressure, alternating high and low pressure. Movement creates this kind of pressure as does squeezing and bouncing. VERY gentle bouncing on a rebounder will help pump excess lymph fluid out of the area. Position doesn't matter, so you could lie on a rebounder so as not to stress the spine and someone else could do a gentle bouncing motion. Same will work on a spring mattress. The idea is to circulate lymph fluid in the area of the injury to allow greater nutrition to reach the area and to remove wastes and excess fluid. Do lots of QT. It's probably the single best thing you can do. It is possible to return the spine to normal rather quickly. Simple highly nourishing, enzyme rich liquid meals like freshly prepared vegetable juices would be a good idea.
