My boyfriend and I went to a QT video workshop about 3 days after I discovered it on the internet and bought and read the book. I have really wanted to practice and see some exciting things, and I have a little just not as much as I want.

One thing I always notice when I am doing it is a pain in my upper middle back, right between the shoulder blades. I noticed it at the workshop and when I try to practice at home I feel like I just can't keep it up for more than 15 minutes because I get this pain in my back. I actually just finished the longest session I've been able to manage on my boyfriend (he just had a surgery on his foot and had to have the bone drilled) about 45 minutes of total time, but I had to stop multiple times because my back was hurting. I stopped and did some Qigong and tried to just move around a bit, but about 5 minutes into starting again, here comes that annoying little pain.

I desperately want to help him recover quickly and completely, but have a hard time keeping it up. I am very active, I teach Nia, so I know how to move my body and make it feel better, and I have great posture. I've never had any kind of back injury or any serious injury of any kind. So, I'm not sure why this is happening.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before? I don't feel like I'm doing anything wrong. Sometimes I feel like I get a build up of energy in that spot. Does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be and/or what I could do for it?

Various things come to mind.

First, you had this weakness all along, just never noticed it until you had to use those muscles to hold your body up (or in whatever pose you need to maintain). That is when you discovered the pain.

Another thought - make sure you are sitting comfortably. So many give sessions in the beginning without taking their own comfort very seriously. If you're uncomfortable, you can't give as good of a treatment. So if you need a special chair, get one. Need a straight backed kitchen chair, get one. If it would be better to work on the floor, sit down. If ya need to stand up, stand. Kneel? Etc.

And if you need to readjust the way you are sitting or standing, do that. Its perfectly ok too. Not everyone can do this for extended periods of time without back pain, at least in the beginning its harder.

Another is the need for self healing. To take time for you. Its hard to heal others when we don't take time out to treat ourselves to the healing energy.

The build up of energy you mentioned, while knowing the specifics of what it means is nice, its a sign that this area needs treatment. Just reach over there and send. If your boyfriend know QT, he can do it to you too.

I'm sure others will have more ideas (and hope they do!). Thats just my two cents.

Hello Sleyt,
I'm going to offer a couple of possibilities:
The simpler one is that your arms (from your shoulders to your elbows) might be at angles too great from your torso and the stress from holding this position is causing pain at that part of your back. You can fix this by keeping your elbows in a more comfortable position down close to your torso and relax your arms.

The other possibiliity is that you may have accumulated emotional stress that is dormant at this point (in the area of the heart chakra), and the healing energy is activating it. If you do remote QT on yourself or someone else (keeping your elbows in and arms relaxed) and still have the pain, this is the more likely possibility. FOcusing on this area with a lot of QT on yourself or, even better, getting QT from a friend would be a great idea in this case.

Hi,

I agree with the other two posts. I had terrible back pain, in one point on my back, when I first started running QT. So sharp sometimes I didn't think I could continue, but when you have a client you have to keep going. Over time it has dissipated and now I can run energy as much as I want without any problem.

Just remember that even though you may not be aware of an injury you might have had one (especially as a child we don't remember all our bumps, bruises and falls), it may be emotional as mentioned, and you could just have an energy block in that area that QT is working on opening up.

Have your sweetie run some energy in that area (I think you said you both took the workshop) and then also do some long distance work on yourself. Keep doing shorter sessions, but push the envelope once in awhile, staying with it about five minutes longer than you think you can handle. This extra little push might just give you a breakthrough.

Of course physical comfort when doing the work is of the utmost importance for both you and the client. So don't be afraid to move around to maintain a comfortable position. I don't think we were meant to hold one position for an hour at a time without a lot of discipline.

Since it sounds like you know your physical body pretty well I tend to agree that it's a energy blockage of some sort. Your heart chakra goes through the front as well as the back. Since you can't reach your back, you can run energy through your front to the back. If you feel comfortable calling for Archangel Michael to help you with this, please do. Ask him to cut chords to anything that doesn't benefit your higher good. You don't even have to know what it is.

Another thing you can do is step aside, and hold yourself in the palm of your hand like Richard describes in the book.

yes it dose sound like a chakra issue a blockage try spinning you chakra to unbinde it. if that dont work drop a heavy object on your toe and you will forget about your back pain JK.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have been working with the idea that it is emotional, and thus working with my heart chakra. I definitely feel a lot of activity going on, although I don't know exactly what it is. I'm not sure what I would say is my outcome yet. I probably need to give it more time. I always meant to experiment with imagining holding yourself in your hands and running energy, or running energy into yourself as a baby or small child, but don't think of it when it's convenient. I'll have to keep it in mind. I was also interested in the idea of the Archangel, but I'm not sure I would really know how to go about this other than just a mental request almost like a prayer. Would that be right? Again, thanks for all the info from everyone. I never really would have thought about it being emotional or connected to my heart chakra.
