Hello Everyone!
A few exciting things have cropped up this week that have me on fire about getting QT into mainstream medical facilities. One is the Grey's Anatomy episode featuring healers, titled "Lay Your Hands on Me": If in the US you can watch the episode online, for free, at: http://dynamic.abc.go.com/streaming/landing If the link takes you the "home" page, look for "Full Episodes," then click on "Grey's Anatomy" and the episode is called, "Lay your Hands on Me." The other is a hospital in Texas is on fire about QT, many staff have attended basic workshops and are now asking for advanced workshops to be held AT THEIR HOSPITAL! Let's strike while we're hot! Instructors, practitioners and video workshop facilitators are encouraged to give QT lecture/demos, and hospitals have activity departments and space onsite. If you have questions about how to give a lecture/demo, I'm sure there will be plenty of help and advice on this message board, so just reply to this post. If there is enough interest, we might even prepare a teleconference so that those who are interested could call in. Let me know if you like this idea! Onward and upward~ |

I am definitely interested in this discussion. I am actually planning my strategy now for approaching local hospitals with a proposal for lectures/demos/classes etc.
Do you have any tips for the best way to approach hospitals? I am also thinking of approaching massage schools. Isn't this exciting? I've always felt part of my calling would be to bring together the medical establishment and energy medicine techniques. Blessings, Sheri |

Hartford Hospital has instituted a hospital-wide Reiki program....not QT but helpful to know that some places are receptive. Even better, their website has a very detailed description of the program and HOW they got it into the hospital. Very detailed. It began in 1999, so they have plenty of experience. Even though its not QT, I think the plan could be applied to getting QT into a facility. Website Hartfordhospital.org and the search for "integrative medicine." The program itself is called Building Bridges.
As an aside I worked at HH until 1997 as an RN. Figures. But that was way before I discovered QT and Reiki. Good luck with your endeavor ! Martha |

Randy Lynn, I just simply ADORE you!!!! You go, girl!
Here in KY, our University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center has palliative care that utilizes Reiki, Healing Touch, and Jin-Shin Jyutsu practitioners. On the other end of the spectrum, my Mom had a friend when she worked there in the early 90's that was simply a "faith healer," and this nurse worked in the trauma ward. While doing vital rounds, med rounds, etc., she'd give a 5 minute session to the patients that seemed open to the idea. UK now has a quantum physics program in their Masters degree options...since that happened, the hospital has REALLY "opened up" to allowing CAM (complimentary & alternative medicine) practitioners to work within the parameters of networking with patients, primary care doctors, supporting staff (nurses, etc.), and other specialists. It's happening here too...just maybe a bit slower than other areas of the country. I finally got a chance to watch that episode of Grey's Anatomy...I was blown away by the tolerance exhibited in it, and I KNOW, 100% without a doubt, that ~ coupled with Dr. Oz's talks on Oprah ~ have opened the gate for us as energy medicine practitioners in a VERY big way. I foresee this being incorporated into modern medicine within the next 4-5 years at a maximum...too much is happening, and so quickly, for it not to! Hi Sheri, Martha and Ashley, looks like we a the beginnings of a team here! What fun!
I checked the website for Hartford Hospital and here is the link to the Building Bridges program, "a simple and practical online book for developing an Integrative Medicine program in your institution." http://www.hartfordhospital.org/integrativemed/ProgramDevelopment/default.aspx I'll take time to read it later today and how about if we all add our comments here and develop our own plan? I'm VERY excited! Big hugs to all (and Ashley, I love you to, darlin'!) |

Oh Randy, this is an exciting topic. Thank you SO much for introducing it.
Rick and I have been working on putting on several lecture/demonstrations at the VA Hospital in Roseburg with the goal of having workshops there. They seem to be open to the idea, but very limited time-wise when I've tried to set it up. Contact has been on-going for about 3 or 4 months but I think we're getting close. I'll keep you up-dated fer sher. Christina And when I have a spare moment I'll check out that link too. Blessings, Love and Laughter, and Big Warm Hugs, Chrissie |

You guys blow me away too! How I would LOVE to do that! But I LIVE in a hospital and only once in nearly three years have I used QT and that was when there was only the nurse, with a big headache around.
After spending most of my working life and ALL my retirement in hospitals I am V. prejuiced against their closed minds! I have a closed mind about closed minds! The only way I would consider working with them would be if I made them confront a QT miracle. I wish I could post a cartoon from "Punch" Two jnr docs are standing by a patient who has just thrown his crutches away and is shouting praise to Heaven. One DR. says to the other, "It makes me so ashamed! All I do is touch them and they act like that! Huggie |

I think it would be great if there was a packet we could use to approach hospitals or hospice programs or massage schools. I am putting together such a packet now, but it would be nice maybe to have something standardized (Might the office want to do this???
I am thinking of approaching on many levels, offering lecture/demos; offering live basics for nurses to get CEUs; offering to come in and teach families and patients QT...whatever I can htink of. Does anyone else have other ideas? I am in a place in my life (going through a divorce) where I would love to be making a living with QT and other healing modalities and I am very motivated. I just wonder what experiences others have had in this realm. Blessings, Sheri |

Hmmmm, I would say....approach the volunteer dept first, unless you know someone at the hospital/hospice/facility pretty well. They always need people. Hospices are very open places in terms of new ideas. These people work w/death and dying daily and hear EVERYTHING. Lots of spiritual experiences by pts the nurses an staff hear about daily so different perspectives have already come to their conscious awareness. As a former hospice RN, I am prejudiced!
Make sure that you know your state's regulations w/regards to modalities like this. Many of the issues sound sorta political...one regulatory board wanting control vs another. Its a new frontier in medicine and will have to be "proven" to some extent. BUT, lots of places are doing it. Their experience will prove helpful in terms of anticipating issues/obstacles. It will require serious research. I feel like we are all "anecdotal scientists" working from people's reports of QT's effectiveness but unable to explain HOW/WHY it works with scientific measurement to convince conventional science. I choose to feel very optimistic despite Western resistance. I think most practitioners really want to do e verything they can to help patients but are not convinced that we offer more than nice thoughts. (There are those who will actively work to disprove it, but many people I have met are more open-minded than I initially thought) People are starting to come around...I have seen it. Dont let one person or event stop you. Teach by example, people respond best to that. Just my thoughts Martha |

Lovin' nit |
I've offered to do lectures and demonstrations at both hospitals here in Tallahassee, the VA Outpatient Clinic here, and the biggest hospital in Thomasville, Georgia. They all looked at me like I was a Pleiadian.
The medical community here doesn't have tunnel vision, they have "cocktail straw" vision. They successfully shot down Florida State University's plans to open a Chiropractic School. The MD's here simply don't want ANY competition. I think MOST of the doctor's in this area should be forced to wear hats to hide their circumcision scars I went to what used to be called the Education Department (ED) at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH), the largest hospital in this area. I spoke to the woman in charge of what is now called "TMH University", left her some literature, the intro CD, and my business card. I explained that the Basic Workshop offers 12 CEU's for all nurses. When I returned the following week, the woman simply pushed all the materials I had left back across her desk and coldly stated, "The University is not interested in teaching this." She even returned my business card (!), making it VERY clear that she wanted no evidence that I had ever been there at all. While I was explaining the QT workshop to the receptionist in the nursing office in Thomasville, Georgia's largest hospital, the head nurse came out of her office and literally started YELLING at me, telling me that ALL solicitors were to go through the Human Resources Department. When I calmly explained that this workshop offers 12 CEU's for her nursing staff, she continued YELLING at me, saying that I was soliciting, and told me to leave! I went to their HR Dept. and NEVER got to speak with the HR director. In fact, he was too "busy" to even come out of his office to meet me face to face. He told his receptionist that if he was interested, he'd contact me. I never heard from that guy. Now I know why he doesn't work in the Public Relations Department. I finally found an MD, a member of the American Holistic Medical Association, who had convinced the administrators of that hospital that holistic medicine is the medicine of the future. They supplied the funds and allowed him to open the Integrative Medicine Center. He allowed me to do a QT lecture/demo for him and his staff. He hired me not long after that (bless his heart), but told me the hospital administrators instructed him to hire me for "massage ONLY". When I asked, "What about Quantum-Touch?", he said, "No, massage only." I then asked if the administrators knew anything about QT. He said they didn't, but to "hang in there". He explained that when he first opened the clinic, he wanted to offer meditation classes and, later, yoga classes. The administrators told him those things were too controversial, that the people of South Georgia weren't ready for that. They eventually allowed him to offer both classes, but only AFTER meditation and yoga gained in popularity. It's as if the administrators wait until something becomes mainstream before they're willing to offer it at their "alternative" clinic. The staff member who was my "model" during the lecture/demo ended up taking my Interactive Video Workshop. She was very enthusiastic about what she learned, and asked me to work on her abdominal issues before her and her husband, one of the hospital administrators, went on vacation. I thought, "What a perfect opportunity! The QT will alleviate her symptoms, and her husband will finally understand the possibilities that QT has to offer." After they returned from their week-long trip, the woman said the QT session totally cured her, allowing for a thoroughly enjoyable vacation. But, when she told that to her husband, he said it wasn't the Quantum-Touch, but the CT scan that cured her. I'm not joking. He actually believes a CAT scan cured his wife! I stopped working at the clinic after only 2 months. I was driving 80 miles round-trip to make $40.00 one day a week. For $200 a month, it simply wasn't worth the time and effort. I actually feel sorry for that wonderful MD, his congenial staff, and the people of South Georgia. They deserve MUCH more respect than what the hospital allows. Most recently, after she referred a couple of her friends to me for QT, and heard about their positive results, I worked on the head nurse in charge of the TMH Pain Management Center. Again I thought, "What a PERFECT opportunity! Like Richard did with Dr. Shealy, I could work on some of their most difficult patients, and people would surely experience the benefits of QT." When the referrals abruptly stopped, I asked, "Why?" She explained that "doctors want to read studies and see research - that one or two isolated healings were not enough" to get them to refer their patients. Another brick in the wall. However, Randy's post has now rekindled my enthusiasm. I look forward to reading more about the Building Bridges program. Hopefully it will shed some light on a path I haven't seen, and crumble the moldy fortress blocking out the sun in Tallahassee and Thomasville. Whew! To anyone interested in doing this, I would STRONGLY suggest reading "Hands of Life" by Julie Motz. I just finished and can say it is a great reference for anyone in the medical or mental health field looking to introduce energy healing into the establishment.
She documents her journey through the operating rooms (and boardrooms) of major hospitals on both the east and west coasts; through the trials of funding her research; and through her private practice. She walks you through replacing hearts, brain surgery, breast cancer and its follow-up treatments, her encounter with Parkinson's disease, and helping a boy with ADHD. It has two main themes: the sad fact that the healing profession seems to have lost its focus on healing, and that emotions play a surprisingly large role in healing. To go into these hospitals and other medical centers, and promote energy healing, you need to be aware of mindset you are up against. Even those professionals that have an open mind and are willing to listen to you, they still have to work with the others on a daily basis. So wheather it is first or second hand, you will be facing an establishment more motivated on protecting itself, than on the patient's health where it ultimately belongs. Peace and Love; Norman |

Thank you for the book lead. I have also been finding bookhelp from the new Reiki professionals. There are many of us pushing/pulling on the doors of getting real help and healing to the people who need us. I am treating "for those who really need us to find us". I feel more at-one-ment with having life-force working with me on this. I also treat myself for this, I'll let you know how it goes. Please continue sharing your experiences as well.

It is totally embarrassing to read some of these stories, as you know I worked 33 years in their system. The hospitals themselves are totally dysfunctonal, and they are still willing to get rid to some of the best nurses if they buck the system. They will not be able to replace them.
However, everytime you approach them you are making them aware, and I believe you are changing the very energy in the buildings. I can think of no place that needs the love vibration more. Maybe you should try working on the hospital first, and do distant healings. Many times I had to do sessions on my patients behind the curtains while bathing them. We did what we had to do, and I'm sure it is still happening. There was a large article in the Nurseweek magazine about holistic medicine, so many are aware. It's coming. Its REALLY hard not to be deterred by te brick wall we face in Western Medicine.....but its that way with any organized movement. Resistance at first and gradual acceptance upon facing the rising tide. Politics are huge and remember that the way allopathic medicine docs are trained is very narrow by definition. I wish I were still physically able to practice nursing in a hospital or clinic and help with the "back door approach", hopefully soon I will be. Not all settings are so obstinate. Places like the Cleveland Clinic are getting money from NIH to study energy medicine. That said, I tend to refer to QT is "something like Healing Touch only better" Nurses, almost all, know about Healing Touch. (Its not REALLY like HT but the comparison serves in a conversation)
The QT movement (right word ?) is akin to a grassroots movement. It probably wont happen overnight and lots of teaching is required. We are strong and can hang in there! Martha |
