Really, I've been trying to clean up my eating habits, as in eating healthier, more friuts, veggies etc.
Back in the 90's I remember being on the cabbage soup diet thingie for a while and I actually enjoyed it (until I got tired of it!)
Well last week I got the ingredients (googled the recipe) and made a huge pot of the stuff and had a bowl of it before lunch and dinner.
I didn't change anything else or eat any differently.
In four days I dropped 9 pounds (from 149 to 140). I ran out of the soup about 3 days ago and I seem to have settled in at 143)
I'll be making another batch today...mainly because I like it. But it's also nice to have something ready-made (easier).
That it helps one loose weight WITH-OUT TRYING is just an added benefit I thought I'd share with y'all.
Christina

Google "cabbage soup diet recipe." There are lots of versions along with the diet itself. I eat so much at work. It's free and I get lunch and both morning and afternoon break snacks -- hard to refuse all the pastries and sweets. I need to eat veggies when I get home so a pot of veggie soup is a great idea for me. It's not cabbage soup but it is veggie. I got frozen chopped spinach, diced tomatoes, garbanzo beans, black olives, and veggie boullion for this pot. Next week, I think I'll do eggplant with tomatoes and who knows what else.

Hi Sabina,
There are many different variations and when I made my soup, as with any recipe I use, I vary it according to what I have on hand. I didn't have any V8 but I included a can of asparagus and a can of stewed tomatoes. I didn't have Lipton onion soup mix, but used some beef and chicken bullion. I also used a whole head of cabbage instead of 1/2 and I only had one green pepper.
I did NOT follow "the plan" at all which is: day one, eat only the soup and all the fruit you want except bananas. Day two....etc.
All I did was have a large bowl before lunch and dinner.
I also didn't cook it for two hours as some sites suggested, just until the veggies were tender (15-20 minutes) since it softens more as it sits in the refrigerator and gets re-cooked till piping hot.

6 large green onions (1 bunch)
2 green bell peppers
1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (14.5 ounce size, diced or whole)
1 bunch celery, sliced
1/2 head cabbage, chopped
1 package (Lipton) onion soup mix
1 or 2 cubes bouillon (optional)
1 48 oz can V8 juice (optional)
Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley, curry, garlic powder, etc.*
PREPARATION:
Simmer or slow cook all until soup is done. *If slow cooking, add seasonings about an hour before done. Eat all the soup you want, whenever you want. This is the basic plan.

That's about it.

whoa, just noticed the carrots are missing. The recipe I used had 1/2 pound of carrots...I put in half a bag of the baby ones (washed of course and then cut in half)
