I have noticed a feature in the QT chat room, whereby when i have left the chat room window open in the background, but then opened or become active in another window on the computer, such as a browser page to look something up; a bell type of sound is triggered if someone in chat room window has entered a message for me to read, but am not active in the chat window.

However, i have noticed that this bell sound does not work unless a two way conversation has already started. Is there something not function right here, or is that how it functions for everyone? If it is, then it is unpractical for non scheduled chatting.
