I tried the chat room and surprise, there were 2 members there. I played around until I got a message up "Whos there?" No reply, must have done it wrong!" Checked into "help". Didn't find any simple guidence to help me but did find 2 wonderful pieces of "Groupeeism!
"How to ignore someone without them knowing!"
Isn't that a nice, helpful one! Better yet -
"How to kick someone out of the chat so they can't come back!!" AH, just what I need to keep youse guys civil and only Groupee would have thought of it!- Huggs

Hi Huggie,
that's awful! Can you try again today at about 4pm UK time... don't know what time that is where you are (hope it's not in the middle of the night!)...... and we'll see if we can bust you in!
... just thought of something..... I'm on broadband and I used to leave the chat room without actually signing out... if I do this it looks like I'm still in so I stopped doing it because it's confusing to the people still in! You might have been in there alone.... which is why no-one replied... maybe?
much love
Nx

Nicola, there is a way to sign out of the chat room? Hmmmm. I usually just close the chat box. I don't have a button to actually sign out of the box.

interesting.

I'm running Apple OSX Tiger and using Safari as my browser. I get a little red "X" button in my chat window that logs me out of chat. It's not marked/labelled but seems to close the window and log me out all at the same time. Look for something similar that may not have a label in your chat window and try that rather than just closing the browser window.

Hi Huggie, I think if anyone was actually there they would have replied - so it might be that people sign-in, then go off and read the message board/whatever and don't check back while you're there! If anyone's signing in it's a good idea to put speakers on because then if there's a message posted MOST people's computers helpfully play a chime to let you know!

Hope to meet you in there soon! Don't give up...!

Hey I see that red x. I was afraid to push it because it wasn't labeled. That is what I will use next time. thank you,

I am using Firefox browser. I know it isn't always compatable. However I would rather use it than most anything else.

Once again Charlie thanks for the information.

in case anyone succeeds in getting into the chatroom and finds there's some useful/interesting chat being posted, you can highlight and copy it to save as a wordfile if you want! Just in case...to preserve any words of wisdom!

Huggie I went to help and this is all there is for getting into the chat room (for others who haven't found help yet.) To enter a chat room from a Groupee Community:

1. From the *main forums page, select Go from the menu bar at the top of the page.
2. Select Chat from the dropdown menu.
3. Select the name of the Chat Room you would like to enter.

*You can access the chat rooms from the Groupee Community page as well with the Chat link

To Join the conversation and start chatting:

1. Locate the Text box below the ongoing chat.
2. Type something brilliant and press the Talk button to have it displayed publicly.
3. You will see your message move into the main conversation box above.

not much help really if you just get a blank screen and no text box!

however this is something I didn't know;
To use an *emote:

1. To view a list of the emotes available, type /emote and click Talk.
2. Once you know the emote you will use, type the emote characters (the '/' followed by a word) and click Talk.
*Emotes are sort of like shorthand for messages you want to say to the group. An example of an emote is /bye which will be displayed in the discussion box as 'your name waves goodbye to everybody' (where 'your name would be replaced with your username.

must give that a try!

The kicking out is something that needs to be approved by a moderator I think! Thanks for this, Huggie, yet more corners of the board uncovered!

huggie,
has anyone mentioned that there is a very large time lag in the chat room? That may also be why you werent greeted. You may have left before the lag ended...

OhhhhKay.

I went to the chat room. So far, so good. Then I typed /emote & clicked Talk till the cows came home, about 10 times. All I saw on the screen was a list of entries reading

/emote
/emote
/emote

and yada yada yada.

There's no such thing as a emote or even an *emote on my screen.

You're welcome Marie, bad form to not label a button, or at least have a 'context message' show up when you pause the mouse over it...

As to Firefox, it is a _great_ browser and only 'incompatible' on sites that insist on using Microsoft Windows only extensions that are not web standards compliant. Incredibly unenlightened in my humble opinion... Frowner

I just sent an email to Jennifer about changing the chat room. Groupee sent me a very nice email saying that she had the ability to change it.

Maybe the room will change a bit now.

Hi, Rie, just got an email from Ashina, which I am reprinting here, on the very same bug in the chat room--------------------------->

Hi Lynn,

Jennifer says that it sounds like a bug and she is going to contact groupee to have a look at it. We have no way at this time to give you a time frame for functioning, but that it is being investigated. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Have an amazing day!
