On the QT forum there is a moving cat and a river/waterfall floating around. How ????????? do they do it? They must be soooo clever.

Why do avatars have to be 150 x 150 pixels?

My original kitten pic is landscape. When I submitted it, it was forced to be square (150 x 150) so kitty looked very thin. I ended up adjusting the pic to (nearly) square and submitted it again.

The strange thing is that many of the current members avatars are either landscape or portrait and look fine on some threads (i.e. they retain their aspect ratio) and on other threads they really suck because they've been forced into the square shape.

You experts out there… why does this happen?
