Hi Chrissie, I wouldn't mind at all if some of that gratitude for stories could be turned my way, sometime.
I am spending much of my day sitting with a cancer patient called Chrissie.
Three days ago everyone, even I, thought we had said "Goodbye" for the last time, this time round. Yesterday, I told the staff that she had decided not to go, she was still unconscious but I could hear an improvement in her breathing.
Today she is her usual laughing, joking self.
Months ago, matron asked me to sit with her and cheer her up. I am not happy with my life circumstances and its always Chrissie who cheers ME up!
I have sat with many people while they went through their transition but its much harder when you have a lot of love for the person.

"WE should celebrate when a loved one goes Home and we should weep when someone enters this world of sorrow and illusions.
Rajneeth.

When I stop typing this, I'm going to give you a hug. Not a verbal kind of thing, but a real hug. Shame, you'll probably be asleep and won't feel it!
Thank you for all you do Huggie.

Many Native Americans begin a prayer by saying, "Thank you for my life." Implied, not not spoken, is the inclusion of being grateful for All-That-Is, the 4 leggeds and two leggeds and the standing ones, (trees & plants) and the creepy-crawlies and the finned ones, and the Four Directions and all that they symbolize, and Mother Earth and Father Sky, and and and.

All that is intended, with those five little words, something I have never heard in any church. I always wonder, why not? It is a prayer that is complete in every way, and nothing else needs to be said, if the intention of gratitude is in one's heart.

Thank you for my life....and for yours!

Thanks for your reply. Yes, Native Americans seem to be more in tune than contemporary culture, but I think we are changing that.

You know i really believe that we are all connected. As a result of your mentioning the Thanksgiving prayer, I did a search which resulted in finding a book I know I would not have come across otherwise. It seems to speak to right where I am this moment!
