Jennifer met with our techies who tell us that if we wish to keep all the old messages, we will have to fix this message board. Therefore, I'm asking you to concisely list All The Problems with this board. I'll pass on this list to the programmers who will fix these problems.

Please be very specific. Which problems do you have and what capabilities do you want this message board to have?

BTW, a chat room is on our to do list, but it is a completely different program and a lower priority.

The box which you can check so you can stay permanently logged in on your computer is missing. I'd like that back.

There is no longer an indication of which messages have already been read in a particular thread. I would like that back.

Also, for a while, there was a symbol you could click to go to the first unread message within a post. I would love to have that back.

Thanks so much for dealing with this!

I could suggest that you visit www.marulatree.co.uk and check out their messageboard - it works very well and I believe is not too expensive to maintain.

One thing that is great (a feature I saw on a now defunct message board) is the line of options you have at the top of the forums (indicating what section/subjection/thread you are in) repeated at the bottom of the screen to prevent having to scroll back to the top of a page whenevery you want to hop around.

Hi, Robert - when I tried the link, it just went to their links page, and there didn't seem to be a link back to their homepage.

I want to stay logged in, and for the messages that I have not read to be hi-lighted.
I know I have missed messages since the message board stopped working right.
Also, I noticed hardly anyone has a picture up anymore, I was going to remove mine but there is no way to remove it. Or maybe there could be a way for others to put one up. The ability to put a picture up is not there anymore.

That reminds me - I used the feature to see all the posts of a particular user, which looked like it was working fine at first. But when I finished reading the first post and tried to go to the next, it did the infuriating thing of saying I had to wait before I could search again. I wasn't even searching - all the posts were right there! (Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....)

If we were to migrate to a different message board we would lose all past posts. Since this is unacceptable, we will hire programmers to fix this one.

I think moderators should be able to delete just one post w/o having to take down a whole thread when necessary. The way the software is now, to delete, the whole thread must go.

For users, when you try to go back and edit your post for typos, it doesn't allow you to save those edited changes, it only allows you to delete your post.

I'd like to see a spirituality board added. Yes, eventually a chat room was be AWESOME when you get around to it.

There is the problem that you have to log on each time you visit instead of staying logged in each w/ each visit. This has to do w/ the cookies settings on the board.

That about covers my issues.

I am signed up for recieving the monthly newsletter and have not for the last couple months. i do get to read them on the board but they do not come to my email anymore.
yes I would love the auto sign in again.
chatroom sounds great too.
and the need for the keeping track of what you have read, and have not read.

Is there anyway to add something for when you make a post and someone answers your post dirrectly that you may respond back, with out rereading everything, i loose track of posts that are directed back to one that I posted.

Hi Richard!

Everything that's been said so far--ditto! With respect to the wait-to-search problem, for the past several days, I've been trying to find everything posted on scoliosis because I'll be working with someone tomorrow who has the condition. I tried using the "back button" to return to the previous screen, but no dice; I have to start over each time, typing in "scoliosis" and hoping I'll recall where I left off. It took many many tries to get (all?) the relevant posts.

All that having been said, we all know you're doing your best to get the kinks out. Even with the glitches, this board is a god-send. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We are having some technical hiccups. About 1000 people did not get our recent newsletter this time. The problem is being addressed.

I've been on other forum message boards which allowed user members to set their preferences so that they would be able to select a 'cut-off' date for displaying threaded messages under a particular section.

The users where able to select how to compile the messages that they wished to view given:
1)Number of NEW messages since last logged on.
2)How to have the messages arranged
3)and an added feature which allowed the user to 'delete' his/her posted message by activating the user's password during the composition process of the posted message. This feature was 'optional' and needed to have a check mark placed in a box before posting/reviewing the message to be submitted.

Otherwise...everything seems to work well for me. I'll try the search engine later and run some drills to se how it does, then report back. Hope this helps.

Thanks for looking

Hi Richard,
Thanks for trying so hard to accomadate all of us.
I too have some problems with the message board.
1. CANT use search
2. Do get the error message that I cant go back to that page. I sent your office a copy of that one, it irked me so much. I think I may have it memorized by now, not too sure.
3. I go to ACTIVE TOPICS and try to read them in order. When I backspace to get to the next one, the ACTIVE TOPICS area is GONE.
4. I dont get much message board mail, but I do get many irate persons who demand to know why I haven't answered their posts to me.I have tried to use the favorite thing, have tried to use the old thread follow thing, to no avail
5. I am puzzled as to why I am missing so many postings, some of which I am sure I could help, along with all of the others who are trying to help, too.
6. Okay I have to log in, log out, but why the bloody etc. does the message board force me to re re re login after every message I DO manage to read?
7. Having read something to which I would like to respond, I go to the new posting area involved with the name on the post. I am then forced once again to prove I am alive, kicking and irked by logging in once again.
8. My vet asked for info that I hade once posted here, and it was gone. Your explanation was elegant, and appreciated. My beloved vet got around the lack of information, but I am still waiting and a pit peeved.
8. You, Richard, asked us to send in what we found to be a difficulty with the board, and are now sounding a bit put upon.
9. I sure would be in your shoes.
You, Jenn, all, have done a magnificent job of holding this poor creaky old board together, but how much longer can you do so?
I know NOTHING about puters, except for the use of one, and that is improbable at best, but.

Is it possible to simply take off all the old posts onto a disc, then when you have arranged the board as you wish it to be,
put them back on? Don't hit!!! I tolja I dont know about puters, etc. I have found one more use for Quantum Touch, though...
When thouroughly peeved one day last week, I energized the holy whump out of my keyboard, sprayed a bit more over the modum, then went at the screen...I was vortexing wombing, healing from the backof the eye everything I could think of doing except throwing the ..........out of the window.
Oddly, I got a bit of result! I stayed on the board much longer than I could have before energized hissy fit.

I like the feature at the cozumelmycozumel message board, where , for each thread, you can click "view all" and view the text of all posts at once.
