I realize that things r new for all, but with all the permissions and segragation here
it is my honest opinion that some of the original flow is missing.I don't quite understand why it is that just because we are not yet 'registered' pratictioners or instructors why we should be unable to view and discuss these topics.To me that feels like putting things in a box where there is no need.

The main reason I was attracted to QT in the first place and remained involved was the openess to all, no matter the background or experience...why stop the flow?

I would appreciate hearing any others comments on this....as all of a sudden I don't feel so welcome here

As I mentioned earlier the practioners and instructors forums are mainly for logistical stuff. How to do this or that. We don't really discuss information that would be of interest to the general group. Things like how to fill out paperwork. Where to find supplies, that sort of thing. So, don't feel unwelcome. It is to keep you from having to read a whole bunch of boring stuff.

I agree. I've not pursued getting certified in other energy healing modalities for this very reason. It is a MAJOR TURN OFF FOR ME. This is the first time I've logged on since this new message board started and I only logged on to respond to your posting. I don't expect to be spending much time here. I've already got an established Reiki practice, so I don't need QT certification. Also, prior to these new rules, I had begun to promote QT heavily in my area. I will use the supplies and promotions already set in place, but I expect I will probably back off from there.

This new lack of openness, segregation, bureaucratic type elitism conveys a different tone/spirit to QT and I'm surprised that management has instituted this !!!

Too bad...there are QTers and potential QTers who will get turned off to this and it will end up hurting the QT movement. As I said, I will not be all gong-ho on promoting QT anymore. Rather, will just incorporate QT into my current Reiki practice. I don't need QT certification from this organization to use it on clients.

So, for those of you who have "permission" from "QT management" to access those message boards - it's not all about the content of the board...........

I have to say I don't really see questions about paperwork as elite secrets - but if the new structure is going to fuel this sort of hostility and paranoia by tapping into people's issues with being excluded, obviously it bears re-examining by the QT administration -

I think it is a good idea to have them as separate sections in case there are general announcements that need to be made to practitioners or instructors and which have nothing to do with any other groups, but if everyone wants to know for sure that they're not being excluded from special, "elite" information, why not have them open to anyone who wants to access them?

Hi, Sande - I can understand your concern that threads could get going that could be of general interest, particularly in the practitioner's section. I was wondering about that, too, but I was reassured by Debra's answer. However, there is currently almost nothing in the practitioner's section, so I think that shows that certified practitioners are not interested in sharing secret information - what point would there be? Most of the message boarders are not certified as practitioners or instructors, so obviously, the vast majoriy of great ideas come from people who are NOT certified! Anybody using the practitioners section to ask about how to use QT in various situations would be way out of the loop, not the other way around!

[FYI, the only thing in the practitioner's section right now is an old post from January that is there by mistake by alanrock mentioning that toastmasters is a good idea to get involved in to get more used to public speaking, and my current response I made because I'd forgotten about it and wanted more info - guess that's an instance where something of general interest is being discussed, but I'll be glad to start a new thread outside "the box" if I get an answer! And it's an obvious mistake that Alan's message is in there.]

Maybe you should bring back the private messages and let the Practitioners use that for their stuff. Then the rest of us wouldn't feel like we are less than we were before.

I hope that makes sense.

Hi, Rie142 - private messaging lots of people would be a pain - probably best is to have all message board sections be public if that would work for the QT Admin - in any case, I know we're all looking forward to getting the private messaging back! I used it quite a bit and had a lot of old messages I was saving - hope we can get those back, too...

Since you have chosen to publically mischaracterize me as "paranoid" and having a "being excluded" complex, I am responding publically. Describing me as angry/hostile to this type of bureaucracy is certainly a valid characterization, though.

A simple practical point: The instructors section states it is about "exchanging ideas about promotion". Recently, on the old board, a new QTer was considering "promoting" the interactive video workshop to help her raise money to purchase QT products. Now, that a "promotions" section is established, she and others like her who would benefit from the experience of others cannot occur because QT managment has decided that she is not allowed to read material on promoting QT.

That isn't reasonable to me and Qt seems to be shooting itself in the foot. Perhaps she and others could have gotten great ideas and confidence they might lack on how to successfully promote an interactive video workshop because MARKETING TECHNIQUES can be applied to various products.

So, contrary to your claims that I am being paranoid and have an exclusion complex, I simply don't see any reason for QT management to block access to that information.

Regarding your "elite secrets" comment. It is QT management that is causing "MARKETING CONCEPTS/TECHNIQUES" to be secretive and elitist.

This is all I'm going to say on this matter. This is one practical example for my position.

Hi, HealingHands - I do think the tone of your e-mail was hostile. I responded in kind and I shoudn't have. I also feel it was paranoid in that Debra clearly noted the kind of info on the threads currently is regarding how to do paperwork, and you immediately started talking about "bureaucratic elitism." And the tone of your post strongly implies that the QT Administration consists of rigid people who have no intention of listening to people's opinions, as opposed to being reasonable people who might actually be interested in your suggestions about the new message board. So I do indeed feel you were being a bit on the paranoiac side.

In any case, I feel your current post is intelligent and reasonably stated, and I agree with your point about how a topic the Admin considered relevant only to certified instructors is actually much more generally relevant.

I actually enjoy differing viewpoints when they are not stated as attacks! And will in turn restrain my impulses to counterattack if I see such a post in the future, since I think you and most others probably enjoy discussions with varied viewpoints which are not attacking as well!

I'm still sighing here...i posted in hopes that perhaps Richard and admin. might reconsider the segragation.I think that openess is the way to go..and since we r all adults let us choose what we want to read or not...even though there isn't much posting in the practitioners section i see there r quite a few posts in the instructors section... and even though i'm not registered in either...I have been 'practicing' and 'instructing' though in an informal matter.

I am just asking for openess and flow...I realize that whatever they (admin) choose to do with my concerns I can only state how I feel...


I do understand that with the change in the board provider there will be adjustments...and wanted to let them know my feelings is all..

Jocelyn states in her post the "tone of your EMAIL was hostile" and then Jocelyn responded in kind.

I NEVER SENT JOCELYN AN EMAIL on this subject or any other. I've emailed 2 people from this board and neither of those people is Jocelyn.

My POSTING ON THIS BOARD was addressed to Power and is critical of QT management.

I NEVER EMAILED Jocelyn or mentioned her in my original post. But, she responded with personal characterization attacks to me.

Since I responded to her attacks, she has since posted a reply MISLEADING THIS BOARD THAT I SENT HER A HOSTILE PRIVATE EMAIL --- that is NOT TRUE.

Just setting the record straight.......I have never sent Jocelyn any emails on any subject. So, for her to convey to other posters on this board that I sent her a hostile email is simply inaccurate.

PLEASE STOP TAKING THE INITIATIVE TO POST ABOUT ME PERSONALLY - this is about access to various topics. I've never attacked anyone on this board and I've never emailed anyone a hostile email message.

I've posted hundreds of messages in which I use the terms e-mail/post/message interchangeably. I did not use the term "private e-mail." I was referring only to what you publicy posted, which you yourself characterized as a "hostile" response to the new structure of the message board. I was not implying that you had sent a separate message to me.

All I know of you is what you've posted on this board; I have no ill feelings toward you. As I said, I enjoy discussions of varied opinions. I admitted my first e-mail was reactive, and I apologized for it. I realize that being reactive only closes down communication completely.

I also made it clear that:

(1) I felt your second response expressed a really good observation in a great way and that I agreed with it.

(2) I enjoy discussions with differing views because I learn a lot from them, as I did from your second e-mail/post/message, and therefore I will endeavor to respond to all e-mails/posts/messages in a friendly manner, whether they are stated in an angry tone or not, so as to encourage interesting discussions with people who don't necessarily agree with me.

I hope this makes it clear that I have no ill-will or hostile intentions toward you, and we can continue having interesting discussions. I'm actually a very nice and easygoing person [REALLY!], and am very shocked that you think I am trying to convince people that you are doing bad things to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, it is obvious that you're an intelligent person with good ideas, and I feel it would be a shame if you summarily dismissed the QT organization and message board from your life rather than assuming that they may very well be open to a give and take of suggestions with everyone interested in QT and in using the message board ... You could always quit later if you feel there is not a positive response to your suggestions.

Who knows what this message board may look like a month from now?

I love this message board and the people on it and look forward to participating with everyone here and the QT organization in shaping it to suit our needs.

The two areas on the new board were also on the old board. We got along fine without knowing they were there. What changed? We have the knowledge that there were concealed sections in the old board. Did it affect us? No. We went on quite nicely, working without that knowledge.

We have the new board that is simply marvelous to get lost in, (not to worry, I was found after three days in the maze, and didn't need that body fat at all.)
We are still here, we are still fambly, we are all here for all of us, so whats the big deal?

Yes there were two, but they were not meant to be concealed. As I understood it, they were only for convenience sake, as are the two we have now. I would say that is a definite plus, that we are trusted to simply see them and ignore them. Big step forward, huh?
And, NO you dont have to like ANYTHING. I am able to dislike the entire world, me included, before the iv of coffee is rolled into my Ivory Tower by the bravest of the brave.
