Here's the latest installment from Pat's daughter:

Hello everyone. Things are still going great with mom’s recovery! I apologize for the long delay since the last update. She arrived home on July 25th and has been progressing steadily. She is doing great all around, with the most significant progress in her strength and mobility. She walks around without her walker and goes to at least one appointment daily. She still has a headache and fever, which dissipates with Tylenol. Her surgeon said this was normal. Her eyesight in her right eye has not yet returned, but we are hopeful and thankful for the great vision in her left eye. Lizza, her caregiver, is with her during the day to help us with the huge number of appointments. Dad and I have returned to work, but we go with her to all of the significant appointments.

We have chosen her radiologist and we will find out on Tuesday or Wednesday if he also recommends chemo. We have made it through the scariest part and now we are heading into the last phase of her return to full health. We thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers.

Thank you Mo, Luvs, and all you silent senders. I'm hoping we'll get together another group hands on session for her like we did before she went into the hospital. I'll let you all know if that happens so you can join us if you like.

Here's the latest from Pat's daughter:

Good morning, all! I have more good news on mom’s recovery. As you know from prior updates, mom was continuing to run a low grade fever. Last week it became a high grade fever, so on a doctor visit Friday, the doctor decided she should be readmitted to TGH. This was actually a relief for us because we really wanted her to knock the fever and move forward with her treatment. She is receiving excellent care here as usual and the doctor says that her body is in need of a “tune up”, to which we said, “no kidding”. Hee hee.

Yesterday she got 2 units of blood and is feeling better today already. She is on heavy doses of wide spectrum antibiotics and will be getting regular visits from the ENT specialists, which doctors believe is the site of the infection causing the fever. Her body is just plum run down and iron deficient from everything, and they expect to get it all fixed up within a week or so.

She has her own room, which is terrific!

Thank you for everything. Knowing you all are praying and rooting for us is very uplifting!

"Hello everyone! News is great from the Stone home! Ever since mom was sent home on the 22nd, she has continued to gain strength. Her infection and fever are now licked!! Yeah!! On Sept. 17th we start a new part of our journey… 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. She is receiving a more “elegant” form of radiation called TomoTherapy every weekday for 6 weeks. She is also receiving a chemo that is documented to increase effectiveness of treatment with minimal side effects called Carboplatin. She will get the chemo infused intravenously on the first, middle and last date of her radiation.



We are so thankful for all of your support in every form imaginable. Continued thoughts and prayers are welcome for my mom’s continued return to full health including full positive effectiveness of her upcoming treatments, return of vision to her right eye, a good fit for a new weekday caregiver in the coming weeks, and overall peacefulness of mind, body, and spirit. We are so fortunate to have friends and family like you. One of our friends has suggested a specific date/time of group meditation/prayer to support my mom’s healing.
