Hello, All -- it's been some months since I've been here, just life going on I guess -- anyway, I have a request for my 91-year-old Dad, Emil B., who is still in a nursing home in Seguin, Texas. I had to take him to the hospital for an abdominal x-ray and his bowels are impacted. The doctor ordered an enema, but I was wondering if any of you have time if you could send some healing energy to get his bowels working.
I would really appreciate it and I know my Dad will, too. He's a trooper.
Hi Kay -- I remember your dad from some time back....I'll be doing my evening sessions in a little while and surely will include him. Elderly folks are notorious for not drinking enough water, and this is the result frequently. If you can encourage him to be a steady "sipper" throughout the day, it's easier, as they don't have to drink large volumes at any time. It's amazing how sipping steadily will keep a body hydrated. A little lemon in the water might help, too.

Thanks so much Ali, Jana, Mari, Molinda, Sumitra & Karen for sending Dad energy. He did have 4 large BMs this past Saturday after the nurse gave him an enema late Friday night, and I'm sure your attention to this helped tremendously. I think he ended up getting another enema Monday midday and had another 3 BMs. I was there yesterday and he seemed tired, I guess respectively so!
Ali -- I think they try to encourage water but he has never been a water drinker, even with lemon added. He's on a lot of meds and I'm sure that constipation is one of the side effects. I've found a product that's either in the sweetener aisle or the powdered drink aisle of the grocery store that's called True Lemon, True Lime, and now True Orange. It's all natural crystallized juice and I've been using this now for over 2 years. I don't like to buy some of the other products out there as they contain sugar and/or aspartame, which to me is a big no-no. It comes in individual packets, (30 to a box; used to be 42, but high cost caused the reduction in amount per box) that I think each one is the equivalent of a wedge of lime or lemon, and whenever I get a glass of H2O I put a packet or two in. You can also use it in cooking. I just love it and tell everyone about it if you're a big water drinker, which we should all be -- it's one of the simplest things to do to stay healthy overall.

Update -- Two weeks to the date and my Dad has got impacted bowels again. He was given an enema yesterday and the nurse called today and said that he just had a small bowel movement this a.m. They had examined him yesterday and they know that he's got a lot of stool. He has to go to the hospital to get a KUB today to see again what is going on. I'm even more concerned as they weighed him the day before yesterday and he's down to 120 -- he's never been that low. I've got a call into the doc to see if he needs to be admitted to the hospital for IV fluids and nutrition. The assistant director of nursing who examined him yesterday said that if he continues to drop weight that a PEG tube might be needed.
