I need some help, angels.
I'm 58, recovering from a spinal injury that has kept me sedentary for 7 weeks.
I have been having fatigue, shortness of breath and heart palpitations for two weeks -- thought they were just allergy-related but not better after the frost.
My MD is so inundated with swine flu cases, he's not available for this semi-chronic thing until Monday.
I'm yanking off my estrogen patch and getting out the flax oil. Please help do the rest.
Thanks,
Sumitra

Ahhh I am sorry you're feeling bum, & am sending now, and you are also on my evening list for distant.

Here's something for you to try. It can't hurt you & it may help. There are certain arrythmias that respond to a Valsalva maneuver.

Here's what to do. When you feel your heart going flippy-flop, take a breath in, hold it, and PUSH.....without letting the air out. By push I mean, like a hard bowel movement push, or pushing as though to birth a baby. Just one or two, & check to see if the flippy-flops have stopped.

The push is called a Valsalva. It changes the pressures in the chest momentarily, & sometimes stops PVCs or paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. These are annoying but usually non life-threatening arrythmias...I myself have SVT, tried a Valsalva when it happened, told my doctor that it worked. He said without hesitation: "It's SVT." And, it was. I am on medicine for it lo these many years & it's controlled almost completely.

You are right to get it checked out. Arrythmias can come with stress or anxiety or along with other things like coughing or electrolyte imbalance...so getting it checked out is a must. You are at the age where these things can appear. I was younger than you when my SVT appeared.

Blessings to you. Let us know how you're doing, if you can. Love to you.

For flexibility and strength in the neck and in the upper back between the shoulder blades.
For happy heart and lungs.

I wonder if your sedentary stretch has compressed things in the area between the shoulder blades or in the neck? There are some interesting nerves there that go off to the heart and lungs. Gentle loosening of the neck and shoulders is helpful for many reasons!

Thank you. Maybe I wasn't paying attention to the healing I was getting or maybe it worked, but I had another episode Saturday of short tight breathing and numb leg and EMTs took me to ER. Couldn't find anything except low thyroid. My doctor thinks its probably sigh syndrome or my body has forgotten to sigh the necessary 7 times/ minute.

So thanks. I seem to be doing well.
But because of the American healthcare system, this partially employed woman who had been getting by on very little will be paying the hospital $50 a month for the rest of her life for that diagnosis and 6 hours of monitoring.
Gotta change this.
