Back with a cat this time. My 20+lb tortoise shell cat, who will be 9 Tuesday, needs to see the vet tomorrow. He had a mast cell tumor removed from behind his right front leg about 2 months ago. Friday, I was petting him and found a small mass on his chest near his right front leg. It is fairly small but I am nervous about it so in he goes tomorrow morning. I don't know if it was too small to feel before or if it is new.

Any healing help for this sweet boy is appreciated.

The vet took a quick look at it when I dropped Gulliver off and she thought it should come off especially with his history so he will be having surgery sometime probably this morning.

I will update as I know anything but it will probably be sent off for biopsy.

Gulliver is back home. The vet took the little lump out. She said she took wide and deep margins around it and everything looked good that way. She has sent it out for pathology. It probably is another mast cell but it was caught early if it is.

I'll let you know when I get the pathology back. Meanwhile paws and fingers crossed here.

Sorry for the delay. Gulliver had another mast cell but again the path report said all clean margins. It is kind of unusual for cats. If he gets anymore it is not a good sign.

Gulliver hasn't gotten back to normal yet. He had a slightly elevated temp Tuesday & Wednesday and again Thurs afternoon. Not quite 103. I had to give him some antibiotics but that made him nauseous and he stopped eating so I stopped them Sunday.

He still isn't eating or as active as usual. The wound site looks good. He eats a little and drinks water and tuna fish water but he isn't himself. He hasn't has a fever since Thursday. I brought him back to the vet this morning (why didn't I become a vet???) for blood work to make sure his liver isn't acting up. He yowled all the way to the vet which I guess is a good sign.

It might be that he is just sick of me fussing and watching to see if he eats (when you have 4 cats you have to see who is eating)but better safe than sorry.

So sweet Gulliver still needs your help.

Just heard from the vet. Gulliver's blood work was fine except for his 2 kidney values that are moderately abnormal Frowner. It could be from the anaesthesia or medicine or hopefully not, it could be kidney failure. Because he is a heavy cat and he hasn't been eating/drinking as normal, he might just need an extra fluid flush to his kidneys. So Gulliver is going to stay and get IV fluids and a catheter overnight and retest his blood in the morning. Hopefully, his kidneys will clear and function better.

Heard from the vet this AM. Even with the IV fluids Gulliver's kidney values didn't come down as much as they had hoped. His phosphorous came down into high normal. So they say he has kidney failure. They are going to send him home with some special kidney formula diet and some fluids that I can give him under the skin when needed. They will recheck him again next week. Poor Gulliver is going to hate me with the fluids and taking him back to the vet again but he needs his stitches out next week anyway.

Please send to Gulliver so he can heal his kidneys. I believe we can turn it around.

Peace and Blessings
