My neighbor's cat that I take care of when he's out of town has become desperately ill. He can barely walk and his owner isn't in much better shape. Please help him! He's a long hair black male. He is so thin... He had a good appetite until my neighbor came back on Saturday. He says he hasn't eaten much since then. I just went to see him and he is howling when I get near. He let me pet him briefly and then hobbled away as quickly as he could.

What is the cat's name if you know? It sounds like its food poisoning to me if both owner and cat are ill and not doing well.

I'm sorry... I just realized that I hadn't included his name. His name is Ralph The Cat. His owner has cancer - prostate that has moved into almost all of his bone, so that's where his nausea is coming from. Ralph does seem to feel bad when his owner is home though. He kept running after me when I was going home Saturday evening... He looked and acted like he felt pretty good!

Ralph is very worried about where he is going to live if something happens to his owner. And everytime he comes home, Ralph senses how ill he is. He is fretting about this a lot. Animals sense things more than people know.

I asked him if he likes you and he said Oh yes, that you were very nice.

Thank you very much for your help! I try to treat Ralphie very well when his owner is gone... I share the good food I make for my cats with him and I sit with him and hold and kiss him and tell him that I love him. When his owner got sick, I told Ralphie that I would always be there for him if his owner passed, so I was hoping he realized that. I'm just afraid he won't make it until tomorrow. I'm thinking it's his kidneys, but I don't know that for sure.

Thank you all so much for your caring and work! Ralphie's owner's name is Kenny. Kenny also had a stroke a couple of years ago that has affected his left side. This left Ralphie virtually alone for months on end while Kenny was recovering elsewhere. Unfortunately Kenny had another neighbor take care of Ralph and she would walk in and feed him and clean his litter box and that was it. She doesn't like animals and isn't a very nice person.

Perhaps you can spend some time with Ralph during the day. Cats really absorb the energy and try to take on some of their person's illness which can drain them.

When I don't feel well my cats all come and surround me and lay on me even more than the usual . Dogs i ntice will come near but don't seem to respond the same way. Mhari would know better than I.

Bless you for looking after Ralph. Perhaps when the opportunity is right you can tell Kenny that you are glad to take care of Ralph any time it is needed. That may make Ralph and Kenny feel better.

Sad news... Ralph passed very early this morning. Kenny said he wasn't saying much, so I think maybe all the energy work helped relieve some of his pain. I didn't know until this evening that he had passed, so I had already alerted the vet's office that I might be bringing him in. She said it sounded like advanced urinary blockage. Unfortunately if this is what it was, I could have saved his life last night... Kenny was in great fear that they would put Ralph to sleep. He had to make the decision a number of years ago to put his old dog Molly to sleep and still feels like he killed her. Frankly I know how that feels... I had to make that decision twice and the regret is still enormous.

I believe all your work also helped Kenny. He no longer is nauseated and vomiting. He just has symptoms of a cold now, which is much better than the way he felt. Of course, he's having to deal with the pain of losing his friend Ralph, as I am. I feel so much like I let Ralphie down by not insisting that I take him to the vet's last night.

Again, thank you all... I just wish I could stop this crying, too... I'll miss him so much. I was the only other person that he would let pet him and hold him.

Ohh I am so sorry about Ralph. I am glad that he had you and your love as well as Kenny's. Don't blame yourself. Ralph might have decided he wanted to go first. I am glad he went peacefully.
