Hi all -- I unfortunately have to make a request for myself.

Turns out certain symptoms I have are not the result of arthritis in my neck, but a tumor of some sort in my C-spine. I don't have any other details yet; having a second MRI this Thursday afternoon, then who knows what.

I'd appreciate any energy y'all could throw my way. As I get more info, I'll add it, if that would be of help to you in sending.

Thanks in advance for the wonderful warmth I know will result from my little request to all you lovely people. Smiler

Thanks, everyone. The MRI results were not so bad, if they turn out to be accurate.

Their best guess is that it's a meningioma, which is generally benign; and the neurologist said that "very frequently" full nerve function returns once the pressure on the nerves is relieved.

Also good news is that it does not appear to be infiltrating the cord, which means a less dangerous removal. It is, unfortunately, on the ventral side of the spinal cord, so the surgeon is likely to go in from the front, which for some reason creeps me out more than than from the back, but the recovery time is supposed to be less that way.

The tumor is at C1-C2, if that helps anybody, and it's gigantic for the space it's in -- 3.2 cm x 2.2 cm x 1.5 cm! No wonder it's squishing the cord.

I am waiting for the consult with the neurosurgeon, 11/23. Yes, I expect to have the surgery, whenever the blinkin' HMO finally lets him schedule it, probably for Christmas at this rate. Mad Not anyone's idea of a good time, nor a happy holiday, but what must be done must be done.

I'll be enthusiastically employing all the adjunct therapies I can -- QT, EFT, suggestion tapes, etc. -- to hasten the healing process. Thanks again to those who've sent, both posters and silent angels (I understand; that's my tendency too!). I will myself try to post to the healing threads more often, as I've learned from this forum and from my CaringBridge page how much it helps to get open avowals of love and support. Big Grin Thanks again.
