I have a lovely daughter who will be graduating high school very soon....we are very close. Lately she is very depressed and is actually failing 2 subjects--she was always an A student. She is dwelling only on her failure and can not see a way out. I am really worried that she is getting too depressed. I am asking for healing for her Please.

To all those who sent energy to my daughter--thank you. She came home happy yesterday and had got a 100 !!!! on her Trigonometry test. For someone who had been borderline passing this year....she was amazed! I know this had something to do with all of your kindness and healing--THANK YOU.

Hi Vonnie!

I am sorry your daughter has been suffering from depression. This form of suffering can be very deep and very severe, as you know.
I am encouraged for her, knowing her mother will reach out on her behalf! What a loving gesture!

As you are well aware, depression during the teen years is common; yet, it is also often very threatening to the teen's (or a young adult's) welfare, as teens have not yet developed all of the internal resources they will have later on in life (as they mature) and often find anxiety and/or depression so incredibly overwhelming.

If your daughter's depression is serious and long-lasting, I would encourage you to consider seeing a qualified health professional and even to explore the option of medication. There are many "mixed reviews" about psychotropic medications, for sure. However, sometimes addressing any chemical imbalance (should it exist) is the only way to break through a severe depression. I am sure you will weigh the pros and cons of this option, should you see any signs of serious depression. Your love for your daughter runs very deep!

You might also search this site (various forums) for various discussions on this topic. You will find many differing opinions and differing experiences.
I have found many people on this site do share their own experiences with this, at times, and want to help in any way possible.

I am glad your daughter had an uplifting experience this week! I am glad she was able to respond with happiness! This is a good sign!

I will mention the importance of diet. Many teens do not eat a healthy, balanced diet, even though healthy meals are offered to them! Neurotransmitters are manufactured in the gastrointestinal system! An approriate amount of protein intake is of vital importance in having an abundance of the neurotransmitters we all need!

While I cannot expand upon this at the moment, I would encourage anyone/everyone dealing with depression (and/or anxiety) to always take a good look at their diet, especially at their protein intake and at the intake of healthy fats (essential fatty acids). Often, a correction in macronutrient intake..and a balancing therof...can make a huge difference for many.

(However, I hope nobody takes the dietary advice only when dealing with serious depression. Consult a highly qualified health professional and balance one's diet!)
