This is sort of embarrasing, but I'm beginning to be concerned.. At dinner about two hours ago, I ate a piece of steak and it stuck in my esophagus. This has happened before, as I have acid reflux. But it always released after a few minutes.
The problem is, it is still there. It is not interfering with my breathing, but I can't swallow. I would appreciate any energy you could send to help dislodge it. I've been running energy myself, but so far, no luck. Thanks in advance for any assistance! MaryG |

Mary,
My 80-year old mother has the same problem. Other than telling you to cut your food smaller, she kept turning her head to different positions, and finally it just slipped down. I know how scary that feeling is,and if you can still breathe, that's terrific. Does swallowing water cause it to come up again,or out your nose? You may have some pockets in the esophagus. Ask your doctor to scope your throat and make sure. I will send energy and pray it goes down for you. Sharon,
(It's still stuck) Yes, when I try to swallow water, it just comes back up. It was not a large piece of steak, however last night I had very bad reflux and I think that is the main cause. Looks like I'm a candidate for an esophageal dialation! Thank you for your concern and your energy! MaryG |

Sharon!
It finally went down around midnight!!! Out of frustration, I held a heating pad on my chest and the next thing I knew, I was sleeping. I can't thank you enough for your energy! Have a wonderful day!! MaryG |

OH, Mary, I am so glad! I guess the stress of fear was holding it in place. Hope that never happens to you again.
Happy to send anytime! Sending you a day today that goes much more easily than yesterday! Blessings- Sharon P.S. This thought just came to me- when there is heartburn, it is normally not ENOUGH acid in your stomach. I used to have a horrible problem with it. Tried the drugs, then found an article about vinegar and the stomach. I did as advised and added 1 tsp. of vinegar to 1/2 cup of warm water with some honey to hide the taste. I drank it down, and WOW! No more pain. I do that everytime I have a problem, which isn't very often anymore. Also, laying on your left side doesn't allow the acid to flow up the esophagus. Just something that helped me. I'm very much into alternative health care. Hope this helps for future attacks! Sharon "It's not about me, it's about you." |

Hi, Mary.
You are so welcome! Any kind of vinegar works, but the best is cider with the "mother" in it. It is VERY tart and can make your eyes water, and may burn going down. What the hey, it works! I hope that this works well for you, Mary. Let me know, ok? Thanks! Sharon "It's not about me, it's about you." |

Sharon, Sumitra,
Thank you both for your energy and suggestions. I'm going to find some of that 'super vinegar', Sharon! I like a drink with a 'kick'!! = ) Thank you, Sumitra, for your prayers and concern. Gosh, what a scary thing that was! I had a less severe incident with a slice of apple today. Needless to say, I have a doctor's appointment on Monday! MaryG |

Digging deep to find out just where the heck I went...![]() |
Hello there Mary. it sounds like you are suffering from the same condition I am. Around this time last year I was on vacation and one bite into dinner I had a piece of barbecue rib meat stick. I had had this issue for years (20 actually now that I think of it) and I thought it would resolve itself soon.
20 hours later it had still not gone down, so i went to the hospital. It went down while I was there. They had me do a barium swallow, which showed nothing to the doc at the time. No pocket, no abnormality. I went to see a specialist (still on vacation) who got me in for an esophageal dilation and biopsy. I had had dilations in the past for some narrowing at the bottom of my esophagus. The biopsy was to check and see if I might be showing signs of what he suspected. A week later I had the procedure, and a few days later I went back to follow up. What he told me was something I had not ever heard of, and is a poorly known condition, though doctors are getting to know it better nowadays. He labeled it eosinophilic esophagitis. An inflammation of my esophagus due to an allergic reaction to something. He said there are currently 2 basic treatments for it: steroids to reduce the inflammation, or an elimination diet. Figure out your triggers, what it is you are allergic to and take it out. I imagine you have a few allergies... I do too. I have to admit I have not done enough to deal with my condition, have not seen a specialist since that incident (though I should have a year ago), and I have done nothing about what I eat, other than be mindful... I have not had an incident anywhere near as bad since, but there have been a couple of times I have been bad. Do you have times that things like meat, bread or dry things get stuck and you need to wash it down for it to pass? Do you find there are times when this happens and it just hurts for a couple of hours? Do you find that you seem to produce a lot of mucus that you cough/spit up, thinking it is just saliva since you salivate a lot when it is bad? If you get this post before seeing your doctor, mention the possibility of eosinophilic esophagitis. Ask about it. I am going to start asking about getting a little help here as well. Any little bit helps, and between you and me, I trust these people here more than most doctors. Good luck, and let us know what is going on..... John M. |

I have problems with acid reflux and it has been a year. I have been to the acupuncturist 6 times with a little help, the chiropractor twice and he helped pull the stomach down. I have changed over to wet foods. I even am attempting to fast 1 day per week. I have gotten a little relief from all these things but I still have problems. I wonder if time heals this or, if there is something else I should be working on. I know this is a mechanical problem. I heard someone say that honey helps, but I haven't noticed any immediates effects, maybe a little relief. Also, jumping up and down with a stomach full of water is supposed to pull everything down. I have only tried it a couple times, and not sure of relief, I guess the relief is slight. |

Dear EauClaire,
I don't know about jumping up and down with a stomach full of water -- that sounds rough. I'd recommend a little active culture yogurt before bed and maybe trying to lose a little weight. I'm sending healing to you. Hope that you feel better soon. Sumitra |
