My niece Kristi has been battling lymphoma for quite a long time now. They call this particular type "incurable," and slow growing. She has had several series of "chemo cocktails" which has only slowed down the disease for short periods.

The last thing I heard about a couple of weeks ago is that they were going to try is a T-cell replacement, which I understand if they can use a full blood sibling there is a good chance they can cure it, if the process doesn't kill the patient. If they use a donor that does not have the same parents as she does it will only prolong her life, again if it doesn't kill the patient. Last I heard they were going to test Kristi's sister in WA and brother in FL. This process has not been started yet and I'm not sure if the siblings have been tested at this point. Kristi told me she had made the decision to move ahead with it.

Kristi has taken a turn for the worse and was admitted to the hospital today. I don't have any other details, not even where the hospital is. I probably won't until tonight or tomorrow. Please, please send to my niece. She's only 46 years old and she wants to live, to be with her husband and see her grandchildren grow up.

Ahhh, Nancy....you have many issues occurring within the same time frame...

I am sorry your niece struggles to survive this form of lymphoma.
I hope a perfect match can be found, if she must go through this procedure.

Kristi is out of immediate danger. Please keep sending to her she is by no means well yet. She messed up her medications and that is why this trip to the hospital. Her husband Jeff called me last night to fill me in, bless him! They will be taking steps to avoid this in the future.

The next step is the dangerous but hopeful T-cell replacement thereapy. Updates will have some distance, as they are not moving rapidly forward, but I will post any and all developments.
