This is SORT of a healing story—and I think it might be helpful for some. I recently had to go to the doctor for a colonoscopy. They snake a tiny video camera up through your anus and into your colon so they can examine it for things like cancerous polyps. While they’re running this thing inside you, they’re also pumping air in to keep the colon somewhat inflated so they can see, and so they can keep the thing moving without obstruction. This of course creates gas bubbles, which can be quite painful at times. You lie on your side and try to deal with the discomfort for anywhere from 20 to 50 minutes, depending on how well the test goes.

So here’s the thing—-this procedure is so uncomfortable for most people that the doctor recommends a sedative (powerful enough that you can’t be trusted to get yourself home after the procedure and need a friend to come along to be your driver). I said no, I don’t want a sedative, and the doctor and several nurses tried to talk me into it, but I was pretty clear I didn’t want to do that. I DID want to try QT in the situation.

So that’s what I did. No sedative, and I just did body sweeps and breathing and ran energy into my pelvic area where the colon is. My intention was that everything would be smooth and easy, both for myself and the doctor. And that’s basically what happened. There were a couple of moments when the gas bubbles gave me some pain but I just kept running energy and each time the pain was over in seconds. The entire procedure was over before I knew it, and I had minimal discomfort. In fact when it was over I felt terrific and energized. The doctor and the nurse both said this was one of the quickest, easiest colonoscopies they’d ever experienced.

Oh yeah—no cancerous polyps—my colon is healthy! But I’m just as pleased about the fact that with QT, instead of lying there helplessly hoping for the best, I was able to assist the doctor and myself by managing my body and my energy. Overall it was a fantastic experience—and how often do you hear that said about a colonoscopy??

Excellent Douglas -
You're awesome!

I've had an aversion to dentist "visits" my whole life.
QT has made them so much more bearable, thank goodness.
