Hello,

I nearly posted this in the general discussion part, then I thought there are some eyes that got better in there and in a way it about a healed relationship, so it can go here. I just wanted to share it somewhere.

This happened today. My husband bought four baby red-eared terrapins about two weeks ago, the care of which fell immediately to me.(By the way, I realise we need to decrease those numbers and increase the size of the tank - which is not large!!)

From day one these little fellas were full-on skittish. Everytime I went near the aquarium they immediately dove and swam crazily against the far end of the tank or disappeared under a rock with the exception of one of them, which had very puffy looking eyes and seemed extremely lethargic in comparison.

To be honest, with their instincts the the way they were, I wasn't warming to them as pets at all and was actually feeling slowly but steadily increasingly alienated by their perfectly natural behaviour.

Anyway, two days ago, I found time to google the puffy eyes and learning that it was not a normal thing or a good thing and could lead to blindness I gave him a couple of minutes of QT.

The next day his eyes were fine and he was full on skittish if I so much as moved towards him from any disatance at all - just like the others - I was some huge predator and all their instincts were on healthy high alert.

When I went to take them out of the tank to feed them yesterday I noticed the puffy eyes were back - so did another couple of minutes of QT on the wee fella.

Today when I walked over to the tank, the puffy eyes were gone again and while the other three turtles as usual swam madly away and attempted to scratch their way maniacly out of the tank, this little fella swam towards me. (I know it's him, because he also only has half a tale Frowner - it was gone before he came to us.)

I thought somehow he hadn't seen me approaching and waited for him to swim away when he did, but he stayed floating at the front of the tank, touching the glass as if he were trying to swim towards me - so I put my finger against the glass and he followed it - up and down.

I was surprised, well actually shocked and of course I thought he was hungry and took him out for feeding in the little feeding container. Instead fighting me with his legs when I do this, he was very calm when I lifted him up and did not attempt to swim away and instead of swimming madly against the sides like he usually does when I do this, he began eating immediately and seemed very calm and quite happy - all the while watching me.

The others were still swimming madly trying to get away from me, but I figured if the one with the half tail were hungry earlier than I usually feed them, they probably were too. I took them out too and put them in another container with food in the water and they, as usual went crazy. I normally leave them alone to eat at at this point.

I looked at the other one and wondered what had brought about this very sudden change in attitude and behaviour and then I had the thought, maybe when I gave the QT for his eyes other things changed too?

So I QT'd the others, crazily swimming against the sides, collectively in their container.

The affect was immediate and dramatic. They all stopped, stood stock still and streched their necks up as high as they would go and looked at me.

It was almost unsettling actually - I had seen them in this pose before, from like 15 metres away when I put them outside in the sun and they would bask in this position.

It was like they were basking in QT energy. They were all looking at me.

As soon as I stopped (my son was hounding me - which seems to be part of his natural bahviour at the moment Wink) they began swimming crazily against the sides again, but as soon as I started again they all stopped at exactly the same time and froze in that same pose - looking at me. I only did it for like 20 seconds each time - difficult to focus with my son doing what he was doing just then.

The strangest thing about it for me is the way they were looking at me. It was very, very intense and it felt, there was alot of feeling coming my way, like love. And it felt like an exchange.

This is new for me. Felt a need to share it.

They feel very special now.

It all changed so fast.

Love and light,
Donna

Oh, WOW!!!

I think this is just so grand...what a demonstration of QT, of life-force energy being understood by all creatures, and of our connectedness!

Thank you for writing this up, I hope it appears in somebody's book (Certified Public Hugger???) or in the Newsletter or on CNN, lol.

Well done, Donna. Yeah for the Turtle Nation....In some Native legends, Turtle carries Mother Earth on her back. In Lakota, Turtle is Keya. Say KAY-uh.

Love to you.

Oh I love this! We have been 'babysitting' a red eared turtle for 3 summers now for a college student from another part of the country. When he first came he got lifted from his tank with a tablespoon, and now he is 4-5" across. He swims over and stares right at whoever is nearby; he can't understand why he can't get the cat's attention (blind cat). He swims madly at me, at the glass, when he wants a snack. I'll have to offer some QT and see if he reacts like your crew. Thanks for the charming story.

I'm imagining how you did this - with your hands in the water? or on the tank? Do tell!

Hi CarolyRuly, Big Grin

The wee fellow with the puffy eyes I did remotely, from another room, just imagining him in my betwen my hands.

The rest of them, I just held my hands above and on either side of the container that they were in and imagined them and the container area encompassed by and recieving the energy I was sending.

I tried it again to catch it on video, but they are just not scared of me anymore.

Thank you for your enthuisiasm!
Love and light,

Donna
