Yesterday, I had a surprise. I had a wicked headache, excruciating pain in the temple area, and horrible tenderness of the scalp to the point that brushing my hair was painful. Chewing food was even painful. Put those symptoms together and you get the diagnosis of temporal arteritis. Yikes!
Temporal arteritis is an inflammatory condition affecting the medium-sized blood vessels that supply the head, eyes, and optic nerves. The disease causes the vessels in the temple and scalp to become swollen and tender. {The major concern with temporal arteritis is vision loss, although if allowed to progress, it may affect arteries in other areas of the body. This condition is potentially vision threatening, however, if treated promptly, permanent vision loss can be prevented. Vision is threatened when the inflamed arteries obstruct blood flow to the eyes and optic nerves. If untreated, permanent vision loss can occur from oxygen deprivation to the retina and optic nerve.} Oh, thank you very much!!!! The official diagnosis of temporal arteritis is a biopsy of the artery itself...no, thank you. The treatment is steroids...no, thank you. Quantum-Touch to the rescue. My partner, Tim Hurst, worked on me as well as I did. Today, I am painfree. No surgery, no drugs, no side-effects. What is not to love about QT? |
