As a newcomer to QT, I have some concerns about working on my spine. I have had scoliosis since birth and after wearing a back-brace 24/7 for 5 years, the curvature reached a pronounced 'S' curve of 43 and 56 degrees. I then had a Harrington rod (http://www.scoliosis.org/resources/medicalupdates/images/harrington.gif) inserted at the age of 16, which many years later broke in 2 pieces, but is still fused to my spine. The cuvature is now less, but still pronounced and getting worse as I get older. I think the last time I had an x-ray it was in the 30 and 40 degree area.
SO, my question is: bearing in mind the surgical rod fused to the spine- can I do any damage to myself by trying to correct the curvature? I have visions of the thing coming 'unstuck' and doing intenral damage. obviously I can't speak to a Orthopeadic surgeon about this.....
First I haven't worked on someone with this condition but I'm going to give my opinion anyway. Honestly I think that the human body is so intelligent that it is well aware of the rods that are there. I also believe that if you were to start running energy into your spine, your cells would know exactly what it needs to do even with foreign objects. It is only foreign to us at the moment, but I believe your body is able to read the energetic signature of the rods and know that it is of a different nature and what needs to be done to accommodate it in your structure.
Hi Amorillum, You can also add this exercise its called Advanced Spinal Movement. You will start moving the sacrum, your whole spine(i.e your back),neck (you have to move like alphabet O)- moving yr neck, again yr back, hips and sacrum. The whole exercise is like riding a horse (but you do it standing). For ladies to perform this exercise you have to do even numbers, for men its odd.You will feel good for people like me with scoliosis problem. Its basically moving your spine up and down.Blessings,Talha
The Austins in North Carolina have done a lot of QT work on scoliosis. They are listed as practioners and instructors elsewhere on this site. They are easy to reach by email or phone and are very nice people very willing to help.
