today i got R. Gordens book and tried it out on a reiki client of mine. i managed to build up enormous energy when working on his back but it seemed to take over my body. i was paying attention to my breathing. the energy i felt got very overwhelming for me and i more or less couldnt speak or move my fingers they were locked. i havent finished the book yet and am hoping to find the answer there but i want to ask anybody if they can enlighten me in any way in case the answer isnt there. thanks
Difficulty breathing/speaking, numbness, tingling and cramping in the hands face and feet are all signs of hyperventilation. Occasionally, when people are first learning this practice, they can take the breathing, especially the Fire Breathing, too far and hyperventilate. If this happens again, sit down and consciously slow your breath. If after a few minutes of successfully breathing slowly, the symptoms disappear, it was likely the culprit. On the other hand, your body may be interpreting this new energy in an unusual way. Good luck, Christian.
I'm coming on here to find out the same answer. I worked on a broken wrist yesterday and had huge sensation in my hands and elsewear on my body, really uncomfortable. Then I noticed I couldn't move my thumb. I stopped the session probably too early cuz I was kind of scared. Any help? Linda
i could go along with the hyperventilation theory, but i only experienced the sensation in my hands and not my feet. and everytime i tried to go back to the guys back it was like the sensation magnified and the energy was pushing me away even when i was breathing shallowly. it was weird but i wasnt scared...more so uncomfortable. i just ran my arms and hands under cold water and it went away and i continued with the healing. it felt like i had removed something and the back pain subsided too. i am a novice at QT so i dont have the answer really. i think if you feel like backing off you should.
From reading discussions on the Board for some months now discussion hyperventilation, it seems to me that there are symptoms of hyperventilation which can be very similar to energy overload sensations. I think your insight that it only happened in certain areas is a good indication that this was definitely not hyperventilation. Sometimes when the energy pushes off like that, it's simply an indication that you need to work off the body in the aura. If you have an opportunity to work with a situation like this again, you might experiment with allowing your hands to go as high as they want and simply stay there until they begin lowering toward the body again. However, I think that when this happens to me, I experience a softer lifting than what you're talking about, so it may be a different issue.
