Honker had an appointment with Dr. Jerry LaBonde, our beloved vet last week. Being Honker, he knew where we were going and was very loudly telling all who passed us that he was being abducted and tortured. We got to the Homestead Hospital, where Jerry works, and Honker became louder and more obstreperous, doing his "run around in Moms hair and deposit little gifts along the way"dance. Which is fine with me, I LIKE dotted green hair!
Remember how weak and near death Honks was? Fagedaboudid!!! This is one smart bird. To any of the Staff at the hospital, who stopped to say "HI" he told his tale of woe. LOUDLY!
Jerry came into our appointment room, and Honker had nary a word to mumble.
Nothing, nada. Jerry weighed him, did a throat culture, and in general tortured him. At least, that is what Honker says - when Jerry is not in ear shot, of course.
Honker was terribly frightened; he associated the hospital with his mortal pain, his deep dread of the unknown, his very close call with death...
To help with that horrible fear ,just a bit, I always stop at a McDonalds and get him a small vanilla cone. IF HE BEHAVES himself. So he does try to behave.(translation, No biting. Action, HUH?) Exam over, Honker squawking and hissing (he still can't speak words well as yet-except for two words "love" and "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD") we began the long drive home. He was kinda snuggled under my chin, which causes me to give him the world if I can, and he knows it. Little Bum.
Honker really did pretty well, but..he was trying for the ice cream. (All of you who have three year olds know what I mean, and they will grow out of it, but Honker is an eternal three...)
I drive a van that can be recognized from blocks away. Pulling into the drive through up to the speaker, I ordered a small vanilla cone, and a coffee. Period.
Pulled around the side, the Pay window was oddly locked shut! I sat there seemingly forever while the woman behind the window grinned at me... Then I looked ahead of us. There for all the world to see was an arm with an ice cream cone on the end of it, projecting out of the pick-up window! Honker saw it at the same time! He stood on top of my head and jumped up and down with excitment!
We drove up, HE ran down my head and arm, HE grabbed his Ice Cream Cone! Messy, but wonderfully beautiful bird, my little green heart. [image]
They were congratulating him for surviving his horror, and they were doing it in the nicest possible way for a little green-feathered boy.
Aint the world wonderful?

i love Honker!

Wouldn't it be great if they had that Star Trek thing that scans you and there's no invasive stuff like blood tests, throat cultures etc? Specially for kids and animals! Bout time, if you ask me!

I've been meaning to ask you, how did you get into animal healing, was it through your own pets? I have a great interest in animals myself, I find they respond so well to positive thoughts/feelings. Like kids!

I have healing tools with energy symbols for calm and love on them, wonder if Honker would respond well to one of them next time you have to take him to the vets? I'd be interested to send you one to find out - travels better than ice cream, anyway!

great story, thanks!

Hi Jane,
Honker will try anything at all once, then he decides what he likes and uses that.

I would be delighted to get anything for him that would help him.

Thank you for the offer.

When you want to, email me and I will send you address, etc.

Thank you very much,
gentle healing hugs,
zeneagle
