Some of you may remember another chicken story of mine that made it into a recent newsletter. Cool. She was ailing, (dying, I felt) and while doing QT on her she quietly put her toe-less foot (from frostbite) into my hand to work on that. The next day she gave me a beautiful egg, which I had not seen from her in a month, at least. Two days later, she died, but not before coming to sit beside me.
Well, the other day I noticed another chicken looking like she was going to be next. Listless, drawn into herself, not eating, diarrhea, no eggs. Her feathers were sort of limp and not fluffy at all like the other chickens. She allowed me to walk right up to her, face-on, and pick her up. She never let me do this before. I brought her into the house and sat her on my lap and did QT for 1/2 hour. (NOTE: always put a towel between you and a chicken while doing QT. I know from experience now that they always leave you a "gift" before being put back down.) HAHA
Anyway, now she's out and about again, with the rest of her family, eating, no diarrhea, her feather are fluffed up, and she won't let me near her again, so I guess things are as they should be.
QT is so fun.

Just wanted to say that I loved and have been inspired by both of your chicken stories. Thank you very much for sharing them! I'm sure they've made more than just my day happier and more hopeful.
