Just a quick one

I have noticed that sometimes when I am really tuned in to a articular acute site on the body that really needs attention I feel a strong pulsing sensation coming from the area. After working in the area I notice the pulsing quietens down and it seems that this is the time when there are great changes happening.

Hi Wendy, I've noticed that pulsing too, had it during a session the other day on a knee!

In Craniosacral Therapy Upledger calls that the therapeutic pulse. When you feel that pulse in your hands you know that some positive changes are happening.

Yes, this pulse is the cerebrospinal fluid (csf)beginning to flow through the dural tube into the cranial space. You can feel this rhythm, much slower than the circulatory pulse -- I like to call it a tide like an ocean wave -- by holding your tongue to the middle of the roof of your mouth where there is a kind of lump. If you keep it there, you can feel it slowly moving up and down: this is the CSF displacing space within the cranium as it fills the skull area.

The flow gets arrested when there is an emotional healing issue triggered, and resumes when the energetic and emotional components are resolved. The "healing pulse" comes in between the two.

Indeed, as others have noted, this is pulse is a sign of deep healing!

It might be interesting to note that one particular time I noticed this pilse was when I worked on a client who was struggling to fall pregnant. During the first session there was a strong pulsing sensation in the area of her womb - hands both at the front client lying down. As I worked this pulsing softened and lessened. During the second session a faint pulsing was felt when i first started but soon disappeared. She described the feeling inside her as that of "melting and softening". During the third session I had a clear vision of a feathered nest. Shortly afterwards my client called to tell me she was pregnant!!!

I, too, have noticed a wave-like pulse in each of my clients...I say "wave" because it literally looks like waves are travelling up and down the body, much, much slower than the actual circulatory pulse.
I just always thought this was the energetic heartbeat of the body.
